Best interview I’ve listened to on Surf Splendor podcast and the best interview I’ve heard or read with Chris on any platform! In my opinion, Chris is the best active all around shaper. Very interesting hearing more about his story! Hopefully we get a part 2 in the future!

Thank you David for another great episode! Reminds me of Serena Brooke, one of the most marketable athletes in woman's surfing and she also runs a surf camp in Samoa. Maybe you can interview her? 🙏🏼

I would have never thought christenson would have been from artesia/cypress. As an inland kook myself I can say that this man is an inspiration of its not where you're from but where you end up. Thank you surf splendor for the great video.

Great interview, I noticed the Markovich art in the background. I was going to get a board from SR back in 2012 and always wonder why this only was a label at the bottom. Now I know. Love to get back and visit the shop and ride one

Rad Interview! Chris seem like epic dude and epic stories!! I've got an Brewer I found on the street that looks like it could be from the early 00's. I know its not a real Brewer because it doesn't the True Brew logo. Cool to know there's a chance it came from his shop!

Great guest, super hard ass and seems very much like a real person, which I appreciate greatly. 40:00 I feel like the combination of Skip Frye (true local soul surfer) and Dick Brewer (pointy end of the rope, hawaii) is really meaningful as Christenson develops his shapes. 55:00 Great discourse from the guest on Clark Foam closing. Highly recommended. Guest continues to impress for his veracity and fearlessness. 58:00 Environmentally friendly, guest says "build something good that's not going to end up in the trash." That's a pretty solid position imo. 1:08:00 Fascinating to me how surfing technology (basically board design, shaping and materials) has evolved to such a high level without very much corporate, government, or scientific support. I think a lot of the early socal guys like Hobie or G&S had parents that worked in the aerospace industry? Think of the money and resources that go into airplane shapes or boat hull shapes, the americas cup foil boats for instance, whereas in surfing all that evolution happened through word of mouth, working together, sharing knowledge, trial and error. Now the tolerances are super refined and the range of compromises pretty well understood between the different board styles. Human ingenuity, damn yo! Take it from the man.

Great shaper for sure! A close friend of mine ordered a board from him thru Surfy Surfy in Leucadia I think it was around 2016, he put down 5 bills and waited a year (which back then was unheard of) he got jacked around and Christenson never shaped the board. If my friend wouldn't have called and asked the status he'd still be waiting. In fact he mentioned to me "I'm gonna see how long this will go." After 13 months he finally caved in and called Surfy, and asked what the f-k is going on? Finally got his 5 hundred bucks back and the board was never shaped lol. After that experience and 13 months of waiting with no board, I don't give a fu-- who you are, let's just say we stay the f--k away, and try give the heads up to others, and of coarse if I or anybody shares some bad negative experience we're the ones in the wrong.
