Since Darren did so many great tracks, it was hard to just pick 1 track to talk about. So, even though he was very busy, we did another interview, which will be online in a few weeks. In that interview we talk about the story behind "Angelic - It's My Turn". So, stay tuned! So what is your favorite Darren Tate production or remix?

I first discovered The Theme while randomly browsing the Ministry of Sound website and saw the cool animated music video of it playing. It was amazing and so different from other tracks at the time. It's still an outstanding track even now. I was shocked to find out that Darren Tate was behind the Jurgen Vries name since he put "Destination" out that same year under DT8 which was also a great (vocal) track that was buzzing in the TranceAddict forums at the time. LOL that elephant story was quite amusing! 🐘 #DarrenTateAKAtheElephant

Another great interview, Twan! I had the pleasure of meeting Darren recently, at a small trance event in Kent, UK. I simply approached him and asked for a photo after his set, and he invited me to stay and chill with him and his friends. We chatted about trance. It was clear how much he loves what he does, and how he loves small, intimate venues. He really is an incredible guy; very sociable, warm, and a little quirky and fun. Twan, you are a legend. Rikki

Interesting to hear the story behind the project name. I think at the time a lot of people knew Jurgen Vries was not German/Dutch and that maybe it was a gimmick to try and sell more records and give it more credibility up against the Armins, van dyks and Ferrys of the time. Ironic that this choice of name ended up doing the exact opposite (well I thought so anyway but this didn't prevent me from buying it and playing it out lol). Still a good track and not much else like it about either. Good interview as always Twan.

This was very interesting to hear actually. I always thought of "The Theme" as a huge anthem, so I find it baffling that it was even refused. It just had huge 2000-ish riff that was popular in that Era. Personally speaking, I wasn't a huge fan of that record in particular, but absolutely loved Citizen Caned - "The Journey ", including his Angelic project. Thanks for the interview, Twan. Side note, and I know it's been mentioned quite a few times in these interviews, but it's just refreshing to see these producers and DJs, who created and defined an entire Era, being so down to earth and humble. Today's EDM artists are just so arrogant, about pieces of music that probably 90% of the time, they didn't even produce themselves, lol.

Have this vinyl, but I prefer Dumonde remix. It has more power and energy inside. Btw I am sure these videos will become Golden themselves one day, coz this is the real history of our favorite tunes, their background. If I would be an author of a trance classic track (Van Buuren for example) i would invite Twan myself and cover all the costs. I wonder why artists dont do that, they will not be on the top forever. This is a great option to share the history of success.

Thank you! I did a lot of trance interviews already (and no worries, there will be more!), but I am also trying to focus more on other genres. Since these vlogs take a lot of time and energy, I'm pretty picky. So I usually pick a big hit or classic instead of tracks that are lesser-known for a bigger audience. So that's where my focus is. I currently have no time to record any new interviews anyway, since my posting schedule is full already until early February 2020. So to answer your question; I don't really have plans (for now) to ask them anytime soon.
@DaRUde117
4 жыл бұрын
@@muzikxpress Aw man for real? Sigh...I know,its always about the views these days and trying to get as many people to watch as you can. But another way that I see it, you can indeed bring some attention to these long time standing artists who deserve it as they have been in the scene for a long time and once had a lot of popularity but have fallen off the radar in recent times. Like for example, Temple One's track "World Beyond" Was once on the charts back in the glory days of enhanced music, or Estiva "I Feel Fine". These kind of uplifting trance tracks from the 2010 era means a whole lot to me and I know im definitely not the only one who thinks so. However these days, it pains me to see how the scene has shifted into something that really doesn't have that kind of connection or meaning in the tracks that is being produced. Which is why I think that if you gave them exposure like this, they might think back to those days and we could start to see a shift back into when uplifting trance was at its peak! I know I sound like someone who just can't move on with the times and it may be true, but I also don't want gems like this to be forgotten by the masses over time. But as always, keep up the good work and I'll continue to follow your interviews!
@muzikxpress
4 жыл бұрын
Well, I have over 50 people on my wish-list for now, all about tracks that I really like myself. Most of them are tracks I grew up with myself, so not many will be from the 2010 era. Maybe every once in a while there will be an interview with someone who did a track in that era, but the main focus of my vlogs is older tracks / classics. And tracks that are more well-known. It really takes a lot of time and energy (and money as well) to do these interviews, I did invest a lot in equipment, software etc, so I rather focus on the interviews that I think will work and tracks that I like myself. Just being honest here, it is a time consuming hobby which isn't cheap either ;-) Thanks for your understanding, I'm sure there will be more interviews coming up of tracks you do like :)

@@muzikxpress Yeah I mean I understand from where you're coming from...you gotta earn back what you've spent on and more. But I don't think its about whether what works or what doesn't because at the end of the day, you interview is an interview after all, so no matter who the artist you're talking to, we will end up learning various things about them and their tracks. And please don't get my hopes up haha...there isn't anyone out there rn who would be willing to interview those guys.

@@DaRUde117 Well trust me, I am not gonna earn back what I invested here in the last 2 years haha! I would need a LOT more views and subscribers for that. But as I already said, I'm personally more interested in doing interviews about tracks that I grew up with myself back in the day. If you knew how much time I am actually spending on the vlogs, I'm sure you would understand why I am picky and why I keep doing what I'm doing now. Just being honest, I prefer older tracks, so why not keep doing what I enjoy? ;-)
