Brilliant video. Subscribed. Been an atheist since I was 13 I think. I love having arguments about these things with my religious family and friends. But one question from the religious side always stumps me. Which is how can we arrive at the right morals with just reason and scientific inquiry? Science is good at telling what is but not what it ought to be. If that makes sense. Science can’t create communal cohesion. In fact, it’s a joke in the scientific community that there is no such thing as a scientific consensus. But religions do a great job in creating and fostering communities. Well as long as everyone’s from the same religion in that community. 😂

Firstly I envy you that you were atheist at age of 13 while I became one at 19, how were you so rational at that time? Secondly for the moral part, Javed Akhtar (atheist) was asked the same question and he replied "what about common sense" and that really hit me hard. Being open minded is the most essential character a person can possess. But that can only happen when you do not align or identify yourself with a certain ideology or way of thinking. Let go of all the "ism"s and "ist"s out there. No need to be a theist. No need to be an atheist. Be yourself. If you lack flexibility, you will break easily. Humanity is known for it's flexibility. Identifying yourself as an atheist or a theist just makes you hard and stiff. A time will certainly come when you will eventually break due to this stiffness. " Be water, my friend "- Bruce Lee :)🙏

A person died and he met the god and both exclaimed simultaneously "My Creator"😀. Voltaire said "If you can't find the god, create a one". Karl Marx said "religion is the opium of the masses. I have been a hardcore atheist since a child. Common sense says that any student of biology and history should know that just 10K years ago, our ancestors roamed naked on this earth. They began to settle and gradually invented or found fire, cooking, agriculture and animal husbandry, wheel, tools, weapons, etc. ultimately leading to languages, writing and printing. We are thinking animals so some fertile minds began to create the idea of gods initially in the form of sun, fire, storm, rain, thunder, lightning and all sorts of natural and supernatural phenomena. It pains me see highly educated people such as scientists and doctors also believe in gods. By the way, I am a school dropout.

Well what you say makes sense but there are things that cannot be solved using just common sense. There are many things in the universe that hasnt been explained. Science is nothing but a model that explains the workings of the universe, usually through math. These models improve over time. You cannot be 100% sure that god does or doesn't exist. The moment you fall into either category, you become intellectually locked and become closed minded. I agree, common sense might say God does not exist. However, even if there is 1% chance of God existing,we should at least consider it(without falling into the pit of pseudoscience). We still don't know many things, like dark matter, what exactly happens in a black hole, etc. We might have better answers in the future, but there will always be things we won't know.

You have balls, dude. What you said, even though obvious, was presented in a very good way. I agree we need to pursue those difficult questions instead of just declaring that god exists. But my question is, what should be our mode of thinking while facing a crisis? Many times, people who genuinely believe in god survive difficult times easily as compared to atheists. How should an atheist deal with difficult situations when things are not in control? I guess this is more of a psychology question. I refuse to believe that an average atheist will remain stoic during a crisis. So, religion does give a sense of mental peace. It does not matter if the religion is true or not. And I don't think science can completely explain the universe completely.Science as a whole just gives models that explains the workings of the universe. These models improve as time passes. I don't think that there will be a time when there are no more questions left to be answered. Before quantum mechanics, scientists believed that the universe was modelled perfectly. However, some observations didn't make sense in the classical domain and thus quantum mechanics was born. Thus, there will always be a lot of questions left unanswered. We don't know a lot about this universe yet. So,as long as there are unanswered questions, religion will live, for better or worse. The problem arises when people follow a religion blindly and stop asking questions.

There is harvard biology lecturer called sapolsky who said religion is always a evolutionary advantage because it offloads our stress to some external entity...atheism on the other hand is an anamoly. That said looking at most religions there are lies everywhere. The way i think about it is that science is a combination of trial and error is a mechanism to answer the truths, as long as I live i either want to read about some new discovery or keep questioning. I guess best person for guidance is Osho as he was agnostic..his talks are great although i don't agree 100%..saplosky is great too...his biology lectures put a lot of things into perspective and help clear the brain. The trick is to maintain peace with yourself and religious people around you. You can't blame the religious people as they are addicted to it and religious cults are not considered as addiction things , although they are.

@@mayursawant111 you seem like one of those people who think being an atheist makes you cool while those whose views are a bit different from yours are ignorant.atheism is completely fine as long as you don't impose your views on anyone through force. You can put your views forward and try to convince people through logic and introspection. That is fine. But the moment you start becoming violent in your approach, you become as bad as religious fanatics. Atheism is thus becoming a negative word nowadays. Some consider atheism to be a new religion (because although it does not believe in a god,it shows characteristics of a typical religion). Therefore,i think you are the ignorant person in this conversation. And I am an agnostic.I am not an atheist, because I believe by being an atheist you might face a danger of becoming closed minded.

Both parties are wrong, Religious people are also forcing thier views and even atheists are toxically forcing their views. Experiment yourself and see what fits you and follow that. While I am an atheist, i still follow religion and religious texts because of the deep insight and philosophy it provides us . Religion has guided humanity in its infancy and humans are still infant compared to the age of the rock we live on , so i think belief in religion will still continue . I will not deny the gifts of religion (or way of life whatever u prefer to call it) . But claiming that everything was mentioned in the religious texts is just disrespectful towards the hardwork of these famous scientists . Yes , major religions were accompanied by civilizations and its natural any civilization will make scientific progress and write down those "revelations" in their religious texts . Yes , underlying philosophy of some modern scientific theories have been previously mentioned in religion but it doesn't mean the credit of discovery goes to religion. Because science has to be proved . A scientific process must produce same result under same conditions irrespective of people or places . But there is no "absolute" philosophy , just as my atheism isn't superior to any theism. In the end we are mortals searching for momentary peace in our hearts .

I still think there should be "Gods" that represents nature and animals that are on this planet even before man evolved so that people respect them and don't drive them to extinction. Sir ... So , it is not nonsense . It just got evolved when Vedas were losing there prominence in the society

If you are talking about Vishnu's Dashavatar then I just can't stop laughing 🤣🤣🤣 Like do you really think Humans really existed when Fishes evolved? Do you really think Matsya Avatar and Humans can possibly Co-Exist at the very beginning? And same goes for Kurma Avatar. Varaha and Narsimha is pure fiction because you just can't have a Humanoid being with a head of different animal. Not only that the Brain would be incompatible with the body, but as well as their a thing called Graft Rejection which contradicts the events of when Ganesh was re-headed with an Elephant's Head. And the other Avatars seems to be quite genuine in physique except Rama. Do you really think any Human could survive for 10,000+ years? Rama and his ancestors ruled the Earth for like 10,000+ years each, is that even possible? And leave all this for a second. What about the evolution that took place before Chordates? What about the remaining 8 Phylums of Kingdom Animalia which include porifera, cnidaria, platyhelminthes, nematoda, annelida, arthropoda, mollusca, echinodermata ? Didn't Vishnu tried to take an Avatar for these? Or maybe the technology at the time of Vedas are no advanced to categorise these afterall. And what about the 4 remaining Kingdoms of Monera, Protista, Fungi and Plantae, why didn't Vishnu tried to take Avatar on those forms?

@@mrinal8140 u have not read about denovo hypothesis actually a proven one that a new cell has evolved from the old one ,and it is true that life originated from water ,some pre-existing cells were formed form inorganic hot soup like ocean and they slowly created organic form of life reaching the ability of reproduction and metabolism . The every creature has it's own body level organisation porifera are cell level organisma while fish are organ system level organisation. Similarly amphibians came and then reptiles and others read history of evolution.. And about dashavatars it is a representation of the theory which was developed during that eras scholars minds both greeks ,Arabs and Indian philosophers accepted that humans and life exactly were originated from water. Also about why Vishnu didn't take form of other phyla dude he's everywhere and everything is him)her ,we accept monotheistic ideology too that scholars name them many but everyone knows he's one . That's the theory all about
