The Date is irrelevant, The File Number is unimportant and the name was Hack. Oh holy shit, this brings back old memories of a channel and show review series long dead and burried but watching this doc with the love and commitment shows so passionate it reminds me of that long forgoten show and how you were the coolest, and you still are. Your journey through whatever tribulations shows in stride and i am a very happy man. The review and moive shown was one of the best and stuck with me, even when seeing Hakaider's cameo in Kamen Rider Gaim, for promotion of the Kikaider Reboot, My mind still wanders to this film, the old review and now this Documentry. I look foreword to seeing more of your passion project. And for GODZILLA SAKES, Keep watching Tokusatsu of all kinds for the goodness of yourself and have a wonderfull night/morning/afternoon.

This is quite possibly one of the best tokusatsu videos on KZitem. I've never seen such a well presented, researched, thought out, and discussed video before. It was because of you, all those years ago in the Apollo Z Hack days that turned me on to Mechanical Violator Hakaider in the first place. So when I saw the title of this video, it was an instant click and I knew I was in a for an amazing ride.

Hakaider was my first foray into a wider Toku Sphere outside of Rider and Godzilla, my first introduction to Keita Amemiya's filmography, and of course how I found out about your work to begin with with that old video review of yours. I'm so glad to see a full on exploration of what went on to make a film that I hold dear to my heart, and also slightly sad that as great as the final product is that we didn't get to see the full extent of what it could have been.

You deserve a standing ovation for this! It was very well made, very well researched! This was an amazing documentary, and I'm glad you're getting the word out on Hakaider. I watched the Director's Cut when I was younger, and loved the "late night, after dark" vibes I got from the movie. I hope others will decide to have a look at, not just this movie, but other 90s Toei/Toho Tokusatsu offerings because this was Japan's most creative theatrical era to date.

This was incredibly informative and very well made. I was surprised that Jetman wasn't mentioned, since that was Inoue and Amemiya's first collaboration and is often cited as the series that saved Super Sentai, and probably had more to do with Amemiya getting the Super Hero Fair core movie assignments than his indie work did. I'm also curious if what ultimately happened to their vision for this movie is why Amemiya hasn't directed at Toei since.
@MONSTROSITIES.Tokusatsu

Thanks for watching! Honestly, I should have mentioned JETMAN. It would have added some texture to the Amemiya/Inoue collaboration. Am also curious about what ultimately happened to their Hakaider vision ... A lot of details, especially those that might contain any kind of professional 'drama,' are left vague or unmentioned altogether in official materials. If I had more time for this video, I probably would have tried to dive deeper on this matter.

Nice to see the Mechanical Violator get some love. Easily one of the greatest characters in any medium (IMO). It's a shame that character inspired so much yet not many people know about Hakaider or Kikaider (at least that's the case in the states). Would be nice to see the sequel game be adapted into a movie, anime or manga. Seeing the Guyver clips along with this just made me think, I would pay a fuck ton just to see that God Tier crossover and, having Kamen Rider in there would be a bonus OUTSTANDING

I first heard about this movie in a tokusatsu column in Hero Illustrated (a monthly magazine primarily about comic books that was a competitor to the then popular Wizard Magazine), and then found a fansub tape at a comic shop. The movie blew me away at the time (around '97). However, I was surprised that you didn't mention Choujinki Metalder, which was a reimagining of Kikaider for the Metal Heroes series (from which footage was used alongside footage from Dimension Warrior Spielban and Space Sheriff Shaider in VR Troopers, which you did mention in passing). Metalder wasn't the only reimagining, as Janperson was new take on Robot Detective K.
@MONSTROSITIES.Tokusatsu
2 жыл бұрын
It really is a wild flick isn't it? Had considered METALDER but my conclusion was including it wouldn't have added anything to the main narrative. Same thing goes with the KIKAIDER anime and manga, which another viewer had wanted included. They're interesting bits of trivia but really don't have any critical importance to the story of MECHANICAL VIOLATOR HAKAIDER / LAST JUDGEMENT. This would have been a different story had the video been a complete history of KIKAIDER reboots, official or otherwise, or a complete history of the Hakaider character.
