I think it's fair to say that the media also contributed to the narrative of her being incompetent and flimsy by not covering what she did as VP in great detail

Thank you. I liked the little girl Kamala on the bus story. I do want to suggest that this campaign (as well as the three Trump campaigns) demonstrates how broken the presidential primary system is. She probably could not have won an open primary. Mrs. Clinton would have been a great president, well deserving the 2016 nomination; but she was possibly the worst possible candidate for the Democrats that year. Finally, with no primary, we have all come together behind the *best* possible candidate!

I think many people think of politicians as wishy-washy and inherently dishonest. I hope Kamala will be perceived as flexible, empathetic and tough. I like that she fights to stay out of a restrictive box. Women are used to this dilemma. She is uniquely able to deal with the tough problems we face. And Tim Walz has actually dealt with them in Minnesota. They will be a great team!

thank you for the info. i was also part of the crowd who wasn't impressed by Harris's debate performance in the democratic primaries. then after she was selected as VP, established herself as a force to be reckoned with, and proved she knows policy, I changed my mind. it is interesting to hear her backstory

This makes her look pretty horrible. A prosecutor who backed tough on crime legislation, doesn’t appear to have a vision for the world that is any different than Clinton era democratic policies, who then undertook reactionary border policy. What a candidate.

Primaries are insane wastes of time and money. The media just pumps them up for ad revenue. We'd be better off going back to having delegates determine the nominee at the convention.

I know they only had so much time, but her childhood was actually full of much more varied experiences. She spent four years in various Midwestern college towns from age 4 to 8, after which her parents divorced and her mom took her and her sister back to California (where the bus story happened). Then, at age 12, she moved with her mom and sis to Canada. Before attending Howard, she graduated from a high school in Montreal and attended one year of college there.

The educational system is Quebec is such that you effectively graduate high school after 11th grade and you then attend a 2-year public college called CEGEP before going on to university where a bachelor's degree is a 3-year program. She probably had to attend CEGEP for a year to be able to enter a 4-year college in the US. I was surprised to learn she went to Vanier College in Montreal, where I went!

She was a terrible prosecutor. This is a fluff piece designed to make her seem like she was tough on crime when in reality she only took on slam-dunk cases and then cut deals. Law enforcement had just as much trouble getting anything out of her as an AG. Her policy has been "Do nothing and nobody can say you did anything wrong." Her reticence to talk to real journalists shows that policy is still in effect.
