THE STORY OF SHERIFF RICARDO ROCHA: NOT BEING ABLE TO PLAY WAS DECISIVE IN BRAZIL'S CONQUEST OF TETRA
Ricardo Roberto Barreto da Rocha, former defender Ricardo Rocha, was born in Recife-PE on September 11, 1962.
Before appearing at Santo Amaro, in Pernambuco, he used to walk to training. When he could, he used the bicycle. There was no money for the bus.
As a boy, one day he caught his mother crying two or three times.
He didn't understand. He thought: 'Damn, nobody died!'. He was ten, 12 years old. At that age, he didn't understand despair.
He only came to understand when he was older and talked to her about a few things.
In fact, his mother's fear was to see him go hungry. Her life was very difficult. She was out all day, working as a maid, coming home late.
All of his mother's efforts were worth it, as despite the somewhat regulated diet, the boy never went hungry.
To help his family with the household expenses, when Ricardo was 14, 15 years old, he worked odd jobs.
He painted a house, weeded a yard with his brother. He did small errands for you to earn a little money and help around the house.
But if there was one thing his mother wouldn't give up, it was supporting young Ricardinho in his dream of becoming a player.
His initial position in football was as a full-back for Santo Amaro de Recife and then he was sold to Santa Cruz FC de Pernambuco in 1983.
