There's a series from the New York Post called The Basement Office on YT that has a member of the UK government who specifically researched events related to UFOs that is so well researched. I would love it if they would watch that and discuss those cases and the evidence collected by various governments. It blew my mind and if you're interested in the subject it is a MUST SEE!

I think Lemino's theory is the most reasonable. There was a fire in the tent, the hikers cut open the tent from the inside in panic, left some clothes inside, calmly walked through storm. They froze to death and/or fell in caves or ravines. The missing tongue could have been eaten by an animal or froze off. The lights weren't aliens; they were either space crafts from earth (This was at the height of the Cold War when space travel was a matter of national competition) or the moon. The radioactively on the clothes was also because of the Cold War when nuclear activities were being experimented. Two of the hikers worked at a nuclear power plant. Sometimes with these unsolved mysteries people start to assume all of these crazy things, but we often forget to apply logic to the situation.

Y’ALL THEY SOLVED IT !!!!! some scientists used the same animation code that disney used on frozen for their simulations (very funny) as well as results from a seatbelt test on cadavers that GM did back in the 70s, and found that in very specific weather conditions (katabatic winds, the winds the hikers talked about in their diaries), there could have been an avalanche of snow slabs (hard sheets of snow) that could’ve caused all of the traumatic injuries. as well, the hikers put their sleeping mats on top of their skis, which made where they were laying much more rigid, leading to more injuries. when the avalanche hit, they presumably cut the tents open from the inside, and the unharmed hikers pulled the injured ones out and into the forest. there, they all died from hypothermia, and animals ate various parts of their bodies. the radiation was likely caused by a chemical in the lamps they used.

From what we can tell from the footprints left by the group everyone seemed to descent with relative ease. It is highly unlikely that three people with broken ribs and flail chest would be transportable at all. And here we see several badly damaged men and a woman walk without problems or even help from any of the members of the group. Secondly these men and women were experienced and well trained. They knew that chances of freezing to death is more likely than getting killed by an avalanche. Although the removal of the damaged tent from an exposed mountain side was out of the question, they had to retrieve all their warm clothes and footwear.

It was an avalanche. The Tongue broke off after hypothermia. The radiation was just background radiation (it's always there and fluctuates) The broken ribs and fractured skull etc were due to them being hit by the Avalanche at great speed, avalanches are enough to give people injuries similar to being hit by a truck. The clothes thing were the few people who survived the Avalanche experiencing the undressing phenomena they spoke about. Next!

The woman who had a missing tongue was found face down in a stream, so her tongue could've just decomposed quickly due to the running water. However, during her autopsy, around 100g of coagulated blood was found in her stomach, which presumably occurred when her tongue was removed. What is weird about this, is that postmortem injuries don't bleed, meaning her tongue would have to be removed while she was still alive. Animals would be unlikely to do that to her while she was still breathing. So what removed her tongue?

The tent was still standing indicating there was no avalanche.Besides that,they were experienced hikers and they had a very detailed journal.In the last entry they said they decied to camp there because it was safe against avalanches.Even more so,all of their belongings in the tent were standing exactly how they left them,completely untouched.Boots in a specific corner,clothes in another etc. The avalanche theory is proven wrong on so many levels.

ICRF redid the investigation in 2015 with modern techniques and understanding and found the initial investigation to be severely lacking concluding pretty solidly that the likely situation WAS a combination of extreme weather at the time (smthg that was not taken into consideration initially as the extreme weather had somewhat cleared up by the time the investigation was underway a week later) and the groups relative inexperience in such dangerous conditions leading to them selecting the site for the tent badly. The reason I like this theory is that it literally explains ALL the bodies, why they were wearing the wrong persons clothes, or little clothes and why they were found in completely different locations.

I remember once listening to a podcast about this mystery and one other theory was that the people had taken some sort of drug. Which prompted them to leave their tent and start walking towards the trees. It could also explain how they got hypothermia since they left the tent and also how they removed their clothes from that thing where your body feels like it’s burning. I’m pretty sure this video failed to mention that the other bodies were found in a ravine (hence their injuries) and I swear I can also remember the podcast saying something about one of them actually climbing up a tree.

I think the radiation and missing tongue are red herrings, there are many explanations of a missing tongue (scavengers, bit off due to severe force like those that would cause her injuries, putrefaction). True, they seem relatively unimportant, but an avelanche still makes no sense according to books on the subject. 1. They analyzed it and found no recent history or risk of avelanches in the immediate area at this time of year 2. Thin layer of snow on the tent, that shit doesn't melt on a mountain during a Russian winter 3. Tent didn't collapse in any direction, but rather on itself. Even a tiny avelanche wouldve caused it to fall sideways and the snow would have kept it down 4. The group was very experienced and would know not to set camp in a dangerous location 5. The paradoxical undressing makes no sense IMO. They would have had to feel SO COLD inside the tent that they experienced hypothermia. Why? They were fully aware of how cold it was going to be and were prepared and inside their tents. And THEN they would have had to be so out of their mind that they forgot all of their logic and training and just thought "oh yeah I must be feeling hot, that makes sense". These weren't kids, they knew what hypothermia was Lot of stuff is unexplained and I have no theories lol

Okay here’s my theory: There was an avalanche. That explains the injuries and the tent. The lady probably bit off her tongue inadvertently. What about the radiation? And the military cloth? I immediately thought about The Conquerer, a terrible John Wayne movie that is noteworthy because a large number of the cast and crew including John Wayne died of Cancer. This is because during the 50s the US was testing their nuclear weapons in the Nevada desert. Long story short, the set of the movie was downwind of these test sites and the fallout traveled on the wind. What does this have to do with the Dyatlov Incident? In 1959 the Cold War was raging. It wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that the Russians were testing their own nuclear weapons. The fallout from the bombs would be carried on the wind. Some of that radioactive fallout probably settled on the Ortolov Mountain snow. So when the Avalanche happened it took the radioactive snow with it. The Russian military knew the vicinity around the test site was radioactive and they didn’t want anyone knowing so they covered it up. Boom!!! Case closed! No Yeti or Aliens required!

There is a lot of information in this video that they skipped over, I don't know why. I know this is late but I'll try to clear up your points. 1. The investigation team said there have been no avalanches in the area and there would be no danger of one. However, the hikers could've escaped the tent _believing_ an avalanche was coming their way. If there was an avalanche, there would be much more snow on the tent to the point where the snow would bury it. 2. The girl's tongue was missing simply because she was face down in a small stream. She was also missing her eyes. This is what water decomposition does to organs. There is so no mention in the autopsy of any way that the girl (or another entity) could have torn/bitten/ripped it off. The report simply reads "missing", which is a result of a corpse decomposing in the water. 3. It was _probably_ nothing to do with the military, although we shouldn't rule that out. If there was bombs, etc. why wasn't there any debris from them in the surrounding vicinity or burn marks from their impact? Doesn't make any sense. The radioactive clothing actually only belonged to two men of the group (can't remember their names) who previously worked with nuclear materials in their jobs and the clothes simply absorbed some of it. 4. Definitely no aliens, yes. If you or anyone else wants a credible explanation, I highly highly highly recommend you watch LEMMiNO's video about it on KZitem. He goes over the autopsy, reports, and even hired Russian translators. Of course, he may not be right but I think it's the most realistic version of what happened.

I like how no one points out that the radioactive clothes came from two of the victims, and those two men used to work on russian nuclear research projects in the university they worked at. Brent's question about what kind of radiation is actually relevant, because the type and amount of radiation shows actually very low amount of radiation was detected from the clothes. Also the 'missing tongue' was not the only thing missing, there were also eyeballs missing and other soft tissue, which was quickly determined to be putrefaction and decomposition due to the bodies being wet after snow melt for months. These two parts were conveniently left out, probably to discount the most logical theory, the avalanche theory - probably for dramatic effect of making all scenarios seem plausible for the entertainment.

There were no signs of an avalanche found at the scene. Also, if there were to be an avalanche, it would have covered up the footprints. Furthermore, some of the victims found near the cedar tree had burn marks. Avalanches don't cause burn marks.

Sad to see you skipped over a lot of easily attainable information here. The avalance is imo the most quick to rule out theory, since a) parts of their tents were still standing upright, b) there were no signs of an avalanche that took place and analysis of the slope and the terrain indicates that even if there was an avalance, it would have bypassed the tent and c) Dyatlov and the other group members were experienced skiers and hikers. They would not have camped in the way of a potential avalance. Also, you didn't present the theory of wind forming a Karman vortex street around the mountain tops that would have caused infrasound that could have driven the campers mad. I agree with Brent here, the jump to "since all other theories fail it must be aliens" is made too fast.

Glad I'm not the only one that's seen more in-depth videos, this one did really miss out a lot of info. The radiation could also be explained by the lanterns they used and the above average radiation on one of the bodies was due to them working with nuclear equipment. Some of the bodies also appeared to have fallen down an embankment causing some injuries, maybe one of them even bit their tongue off while falling?
@000trashcanhero000

I haven't even watched the truly in-depth documentaries/investigative journeys into this incident, so I might not be fully informed but where did you read that one of the hikers worked with nuclear equipment? What nuclear equipment? I have also read that the entire area around the campsite and the forest contained radio-active material. This would hint to a Soviet experiment, I would say. Although I must say I haven't read any of the official reports yet. As for the missing tongue - I would either say it's a) because the woman swallowed it in an epileptic episode maybe, or some other kind of unconscious state; b) because after her death, nearby animals chewed it off or c) I read that she was found laying with her head in a stream of water; this could have eroded and sped up the decay of her tongue over the months. Interesting theories.
@Doddsie212

Doing a quick search on Google, I couldn't find anything relating to one of them working with nuclear material, but I'm quite sure I heard it mentioned during a video on KZitem (not the most reliable of sources, I know). Most of the results talked about the lanterns containing Thorium leading to their clothes being radioactive. I'm with you on the idea that Soviet experiments/testing in the area may have increased radiation levels but I don't believe that's related to the incident. I doubt the missing tongue was eaten by animals, why would they take only the tongue and nothing else off the bodies? I forgot about the stream bit, but can see how that explains it, but think maybe an episode or fit is also quite likely. I do think the Karman vortex street is the most interesting answer, mainly because there isn't evidence against it like the other theories.

the wind theory wouldn’t have worked because when they found the last four missing bodies they found evidence that they made a shelter and tried to survive. supporting the point that they were in sound mind when they left the tent
