The nickel and dime trick is actually in the Spaulding & Rogers A to Z book. I even had their feeler gauge tools on a keyfob back in the day...lol But yeah, your right on point, the stroke is truly adjusted by the nipple end of the armature bar.

I was thinking that 4.0mm stroke is for lining and 3.2-3.5 for shading and colour packing? I’m I wrong

I hate when ppl check spring to contact screw distance because like u said it means nothing. I’m new to rotary machines and they are not so easy for me to use. They hit to hard and are not easily adjustable but on the other hand I’m sick of turning coil machines. Tattooing 10+ years and I love the advise to new artist.

I'm trying to learn coils and I find if I set the needle so at rest it is just inside the tip I only get really small needle protrusion do you have a video on this? (It's a cutback liner)
