@angiepanjie I was born the same year but in Sheffield, England and according to my mother my " rock out" song was " Woolly Bully" by Sam the Sham and The Pharaohs 😂. I used to go so crazy as a 2 and 3 yr old she was forced to buy the record for me. It was my first record, but we always had the Supremes playing in the house and years later when I was 17 I bought a 4 record anthology album and when I played it all my early years ( before 5 yrs old) came flashing back.

There not the most successful female group of all time anymore, they had a great run tho. The top 10 are 1. Spice Girls, 2. The Andrews Sisters, 3. TLC, 4. Destiny's Child, 5. AKB48, 6. The Pussycat Dolls, 7. Bananarama, 8. The Pointer Sisters, 9. The Nolans, 10. The Supremes, and that list is worldwide and based off sales. But in my opinion i would put them at #1 also, just because i like there songs more that the others, well i like TLC too but id put them at #2.

Diana Ross was known as one of the top 10 most beautiful women of her day. This was in the 60's. Diana and the Supremes broke ground, paved it with their talent. Mary Wilson was 33% (until she took over the group in the 70's) and Florence Ballard was 33% all with a HUGE supporting cast of writers, producers, arrangers and instrumentalist! With Berry's guidance they reached the top and have remained there at the Top Female Recording Act......of all time!

I think it was the scary hair-dos, and hearing yet again that compared to the other two ladies, Diana's voice was annoyingly nasal such that I always wondered how she always had the lead. @Ronald McFondle But the fans loved Flo! That's what counts. What Dina Birdsong or Gordy thought counts for very little.

@Ronald McFondle she wasnt a difficult person to work with. She got shoved in the background and she didnt put up with Berry's shit. He pushed for Diane to take lead cause she was sleeping with him. I dont think Diane is that special.

@Ronald McFondle you don't get to tell me why I bought Supremes records back then as a kid. You can speak for yourself, but not me. Frankly, as an old baby boomer listening to Diana sing as a youngster here in the clip, I find her voice quite annoying compared to the studio releases. No, the reason I bought Supremes records has nothing to do with Diana Ross's voice alone, not at all.
