@@disorganizedorg much of what is seen specifically in the old testament is metaphorical, e.g. people living into their 900's is intended to convey how wise they are. you have two instances where the human gene pool is shallow as a raindrop; first with adam and eve, the again with noah and his family, they weren't literally the only people, they were the only people of importance to the religion at the time. once you get into the new testament things can be seen as more literal, but even then so much what surrounds jesus is parable, so it has to be taken with a grain of salt in regards to his miracles etc... with any religious text you have to think of it like a movie that's "based on a true story"... most of the stuff didn't happen like this, but it's much more interesting this way.

Simon: "Who reads a fiction book and assumes it's real?" The US Coast Guard used to get calls asking them to please rescue those people on that island (after they had watched "Gilligan's Island"). Some people just want to believe, I guess.
@Bacopa68
4 жыл бұрын
All this is crazy because it's very clear that Gilligan's Island is about the ancient Egyptian "Weighing of the Heart" ceremony that determines the role of the dead in the afterlife. The FIVE castaways, excluding Gilligan and The Skipper are RECENENTLY DECEASED. Anubis, the guide of the dead, represented in the show as The Skipper, has brought them to be judged by OSIRIS. Gilligan is OSIRIS.

I don't remember if it was Bell or Doyle, but they didn't always get it entirely right. He was diagnosing a patient with roseate to the cheeks, and astonished all present with the accuracy of his predictions. He said that the patient was in a military marching band and he knew this because of his bearing and other clues, of which the patient confirmed the truthfulness thereof. He then stated that the cause of the roseate was because of having to blow upon the tuba in the band, and of course was surprised when he asked which instrument he played, that the patient said "the bass drum", lol.

The character was named C Auguste Dupin and was introduced in the short story "Murders in the Rue Morgue," published in 1841. Poe wrote two more stories with Dupin - "The Mystery of Mary Roget" 1842 and "The Purloined Letter" 1844.
@cha5
4 жыл бұрын
Poe's character Dupin also used deduction in a Pre-Holmesian manner to deduce what his friend the narrator was thinking in the story 'The Murders in the rue Morgue', Which was also I believe the first 'Locked Door' mystery story (In which a crime takes place behind a locked door of a home, usually in a single room involving a murder, in which there is seemingly no possible way for a criminal to have broken into the house and committed the same crime without having broken or unlocked the door.)

Apparently, Alan Alda used to get letters asking him for medical advice because he used to play Dr. Benjamin Franklin Pierce on M*A*S*H. Alan Arbus who played Dr.Sydney Freedman on the same show had to take his kid to the doctors for some reason and the doctor started talking to him in medical jargon and Alan Arbus had to stop the doctor and say that he had no idea what the doctor was saying as Alan Arbus didn't know medical jargon as he only played a doctor on TV. ... You kept asking why do people believe it's real. I dunno for sure but my guess would be because they want to believe it. I mean how great would it be if there really was a detective that could sort out the little problems the way Sherlock Holmes could? Plus it's nice to think about. We live in a very harsh world so it's nice to escape from it and pretend fictional people are real. I also think sometimes in cases of people believing in fictional people and places could be a symptom of maybe a mental health issue. I could be wrong about that one, it's just a theory I have.
