Everything he says is true. I remember being about 3 years old when my uncle pulled up on his new CB750, I was awestruck. At 17 year old I passed my test and by coincidence I bought a CB900. When I'm on my bike (motorcycle) my mind is on my riding and watching out for danger, if you have worries they fade but they come back as soon as you park. I'm in my 50's now and I've had a dozen or so bikes. I do feel that while riding a bike I'm mentally more stimulated than I would be in a car as I have more to think about, I just love going for a ride and that's never been the case of any car I've owned, I'll be riding for as long as I'm physically and mentally able.

Greetings from Australia! I grew up like a lot of my countryman as a surfer, but as I have aged, I no longer have the physical ability to survive the fearsome ocean to surf the big waves that would feed my endorphins. For a long time something has been missing. I have just turned 59 and I have recently got my learners permit and bought a CB500x. It is just what I needed. Believe it or not, the 2 are relatable in a lot of ways, split second decisions, being able to pick your lines of travel through the winedies, and turns and the transferer of weight and balance. I am hooked. Every day I wake up with joy in anticipation of going for a ride. I wish I had bought a bike a couple of decades ago. I feel like a kid again, all thanks to my 2-wheel friend. Thanks for the video.

It is the closest that you can get to flying without leaving the ground.

Good video! You've captured the very essence of motorcycling. I have ridden motorcycles for over 50 years now, and I rode for 2 years in high school before I ever owned a 4-wheel vehicle. I absolutely LOVE riding my motorcycle. As you said, when we are riding we are out there IN the world and fully exposed to it - not insulted from it in a quiet, temperature-controlled cage on wheels with music playing. I have a full 400W audio system with 8 speakers on my big Harley CVO Street Glide, but I rarely even turn it on anymore. In my later years I prefer listening to the simple rush of wind, the sounds of the world around me, and the satisfying rumble of my big V-Twin engine and quite loud 2-into-1 exhaust. It's exhilarating, and it makes me feel alive. If traffic is heavy, I'll often just make a right turn so I don't have to wait on a traffic light, and just go. Being retired now, much of the time I don't even care WHERE I'm going... I simply want to GO. It's the riding itself that matters to me now - not the destination nor the time I arrive. I have a little pillow that says "You Never See a Motorcycle Parked Outside of a Psychiatrist's Office." Simple, yet profound. One of my daughters-in-law saw it years ago and remarked "I don't get it." So I replied by simply quoting one of my Harley T-shirts that says "If I Have To Explain, You Wouldn't Understand". She looked at me funny. I don't think she will ever ride a motorcycle, and thus she will never understand. I find that sad.

Thank you for posting this video. I have been putting off, for reasons I cannot fathom, even starting out with motorcycles by doing a CBT. This video is very positive, helpful, uplifting and inspiring. This is the kind of video I need. I am 50 years old. One of the worst things was all the extreme negativity I have received throughout my life regarding motorcycles, yet I rode a bicycle for years in very heavy traffic. Yes, there have been occasions when something went wrong but I have always walked away because, as you said in the video, being exposed sharpens your mind and wits enabling quicker reactions to developing events and acting accordingly. I try to do the same and keep my mind focussed when I drive, but in a car it is an effort whereas on a bike it comes more naturally. To my mind, this compensates a lot for the vulnerability and dangers of riding a motorcycle. I think I may even go as far as to say riding a motorcycle is more natural because the exposure to the environment when riding is natural compared with the enclosed and isolating environment of a car. Personally, I have thought for a long time that it should be a requirement for people wanting to use the road to start out on two wheels, whether powered or unpowered, to learn properly about the road environment before moving to a car or other vehicle. I think the roads would be much safer this way.

At 76 yrs young, i ride every possible chance i can get, been riding off & on since i was 16 & intend to ride off into that eternal sunset, but not too soon. You're so right, riding is like flying free as the birds, i often think of the cowboys of olde out on the range, mostly alone but sometimes with a friend along for the ride, it's truly a grande thing. Thanks for the video sorry for the windiness, i just happen to love my time on my dear olde bike. Bye now, ric, ontario canada, it's nice to hear something positive for a change.
