In this amateur video, you will see one of the Spoon Augers that we are using to make holes for the treenails in the Sutton Hoo Ship. Based on a Saxon idea the Spoon Auger is demonstrated using a breastplate and wooden handle made by Mike Pratt who volunteers for the charity.
The metal part of the auger was designed and made by alexpoleironworks.com
David Turner, Ship's Co. volunteer can be seen making a hole through a rib on the midship model as part of our experimental archaeology.
