I like the pattern but not how the body is finis😊hed. Looks like a perogie impaled on a hook. Have you ever given any thought to trimming the bottom body skin to the foam around to the mid point of the body thickness, then gluing the top skin so that it overlaps the bottom skin at approximately the mid thickness of the body and gluing the top skin over the bottom, then trimming the top skin. Just a thought, but after some more thought, probably more work than it's worth. I like the body design made to enable gluing the silicone legs in to the body. I will try making this pattern; also a version with hook point up for skimming over lily pads.

Very good video. I have started to tie some foam flies on plastic tubes in which you can use any type of hook. I am getting anxious to try them.

Hello Jonathan, A great frog pattern! I want to tie and try this. But,........what kind of material do you use for the skin? It looks like a kind of rubber? Can you tell me what it is so I can buy it? Greetings and tight lines from The Netherlands.

dutchflyfisher it is called Kiley’s Exo Skin and it’s carried by Hareline Dubbin. It is a rubber type material.

Great pattern! If only there was a hook you could use that faced upwards when it landed, and was naturally weedless? Video coming soon!

@ Brett Humphries - at the beginning of this video, Svend built up quite a thick thread base. By gluing and wrapping some round lead substitute to the shank, so it would be on the underside when the hook point is pointed up, you can counterweight the hook shank so it will land the fly point up. This would replace some of the thread wraps, then build the pattern so the light colour is on the bottom when finished.

@@donmoroz5502 personally, I was thinking about a different hook and technique altogether.
