@@Mary...22-u9jit's amazing to live in a place like that, 'cause this man is liar: in the USSR, anyone who wanted to get their records could do it, and all you had to do was just want to. I have a huge collection of recordings of such bands as Sweet, Grand Funk, Slade, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen and others, obtained in the USSR, recorded on a tape recorder from imported vinyl or from the radio. There would be a desire, and it would not be so difficult to get records - no more difficult than buying a good record these days, even in the West. So what kind of KGB prevented him from getting them is a great mystery.

What a touching interview. Brian always seemed very genuine and unbothered by fame and fortune. Clearly, he had some demons and grog was the big one. I still think what The Sweet brought as a band and also as individual artists (harmony etc) was just untouched by others. You read so much about all the squabbles and disagreements with my fellow Aussie Mike Chapman (and NC) but at the end of the day what they all brought together is timeless and the best of breed. Others - say like Queen - copied and tried to improve but The Sweet was one of a kind and deserves far more recognition for the influence on rock and pop. But back to Brian here; clearly a man in decline but determined to keep playing and singing. Rest in peace Brian and Mick and Steve. Rock on Andy. All class fellas. Thank you.

This man created some of the greatest music ever, the songs from my childhood that are indelibly etched in me forever .. Sweet is up there with the greatest bands of all-time, and for a period of time in the 70s, they released classic after classic after classic .. Very few know what goes into the creation and performance of great songs, and how it takes a toll on every cell in your body .. Thank you Brian, RIP to one of the best ever

The Sweet may be gone, CDs may be gone, but their music never will. It's so sad to see Brian like this, especially after all the great music he, The Sweet and other bands gave us in the 70s. May be gone, but never forgotten. I still listen and dance through the streets to your songs. Your music and songs will live us as long as we are still here. God bless you, Brian, The Sweet and to all those who gave us great music, who are sadly no longer with us.

Crazy how music can transform a man! In the interview he was struggling to speak, slurring his words and shaking uncontrollably, yet on the stage he came alive, sang like he did as a young man and appeared as a rock star. It's a Rock & Roll tragedy, but such a legendary performer.

Hate to tell you this, but that was lip-synced. It was far from an actual LIVE performance. I'm not taking anything away from what and who he was, but that was not a proper performance. I hate that he was such a tortured soul. I can have empathy for what he dealt with personally.

@@boutcha1 I hate to tell the person with hatred (of telling others things) ... but it's not lip-synced. I'm not sure why that's even up for discussion, as it is obvious he can't sing as well as the prime days. And that's not a knock on him, with everything he had been through. But if his producers or even himself wanted to use a pre-recorded vocal track, don't you think they would've found the original from the 70s or spent 100 takes getting it perfect? He's missing several notes here with his voice cracking often. It was live (for better or worse)

@@MrPook79 I agree that the vocals were different. I looked up the original song and the vocals are different. That said, it doesn't seem as though the electric guitars even have cords going to them. The special effects stuff and organ parts, I don't see how they could create that sound on a TV show. I think maybe Brian's vocals were the only thing that was even real in this performance. You know they can isolate everything in a studio. All they had to do was go through the motions. The organ guy seems to be in on the fact that they really aren't playing live. If this is LIVE, then where are the cords for the guitars?

Absolute Zustimmung! R.I.P. Brian Conolly, Mick Tucker, Steve Priest, Phil Lynott, Gary Moore, Freddie Mercury uvm. Ich bin froh, dass ich in dieser tollen Zeit leben durfte...
