Why would they drop that? It was their image and got them noticed and made them fantasy material for teenage female fans. What they did led to the 80's glam rock scene. Besides, the music would have been exactly the same. I mean everyone has an opinion and it's all just a matter of taste, but for my money I'd rather see people who don't look like everyone else on the street and I've taken that approach with my own career, while I was still in music. I think it's really sad that everyone and literally their little sister has tatt's, piercings, and orange hair now. Where is the fun and fantasy of being able to look that way when your parents want you to wear polo shirts? It's just my personal opinion, but I think unless you're wearing some kind of costume, it's a half assed act. Today a lot of the costumes are facial tattoos and I'm really not a fan. Still just show biz, still just a costume. I think Nikki Sixx said it well once when he said, "Just because I'm wearing makeup doesn't mean I can't kick your ass.". It doesn't mean anything, it's just a show. That's my 2 cents on the other side of the coin.
@DuncanScott

@@RickHavok I couldn't agree more with most of your points but when it come to the music part your far off the mark. They wanted to be a heavy rock band and in actual fact they where more metal. It was Chin and Chapman that pushed them towards the glam scene and yes I was into glam and dressed that way in the early 70's especially at there gigs. If you listen to there b sides of there hit singles and the albums they wrote you can hear what they where into and they themselves said many times the direction they wanted to go. If you can get hold of "Sweet Rare Studio Tracks" they play there singles the way they originally wanted to. Thanks for the chat hope you can get hold of that album.

@@DuncanScott I've heard, and often prefer, thier B side material and have heard everything that's out there as far as I know. I've also heard at least most of the interviews and know what Andy and the others had to say about it. Either I misunderstood your use if the term glam, or you misunderstood my comment. Glam is an image; you called it that yourself. Pop, Rock, and Metal, are musical styles. You also said they wrote heavier stuff and released it, all while dressing the same. So... I maintain my position: the music wouldn't have changed. The only exception to that would be if they were contractually bound for much longer than usual and were not permitted to release their own material. Either way, I thought we were talking about a look.

Hi Mick. I have a question that only a drummer could answer. I’ve watched several videos of Mick. His physical style strikes me as unusual, specifically how he held his body & arms while drumming, very upright, almost leaning back a bit, his arms looked a bit pulled in. I was amazed that he put out such power while appearing to be so contained. How did he do that? Is he leaning back cuz he got the double basses going?
