Sweet is the most diverse Band ever. What other band went full blown Pop Ballad, Love Is Like Oxygen, to pop rock Little Willie, to Rock Ballroom Blitz, to the inventors of Thrash Rock with Sweet FA etc.?

Didnt know he was called that, but i got the Desolation Boulevard album at christmas and the song "Man with the golden arm" still stuck in my head, very cool drumsolo....especially towards the end, D A M N those tribal drums dugg eh dagg dagga duggeli doo dee-dah dagga dagg e-dugg do do doode-li DOKK!! DOKK! lol, shut up. its not easy to "spell" a drumsolo hahaha

Me too! They are my 5th favorite band of all time, only behind The Cars, The Beatles, Steely Dan and Talking Heads. So glad I grew up with all this great music, I was in junior high when Sweet arrived on the scene with Little Willy.

Any of you who got to see this band apparently scored! I have never heard anything bad about this band live, and why would I, when I watch a performance like this. These guys were the total package and I wish I could of seen them live to tell some of the stories I am reading below. One of my favorite all-time bands. The Sweet Rocks!

Sweet would show up at Rodney Bingenheimer 70s club English disco. Sweet were the hottest group of mid seventies. Great track to react to Chod. Six Teens was the influential track that inspired John mellencamp to write a little ditty called Jack and Diane.. 🔥💥🎸🎵🎼🎉📀😁

I've been digging on this band the past few months. I first heard them a little before the summer and agree they are very underrated, but their live shows are where they really shine. Take this from an 80s baby raised on mainly R&B and blues.

My favourite Sweet song since I heard it when I was about 13. Good video too, never seen that before. Now, 50 years later, the guitarist lives just down the road and drinks in the pub I visit now and again. I think they were always under-rated, and caught between the two worlds of glam rock and heavy rock.

Blockbuster "bubbubeli-ooh we didn't know WHAT to do" Hellraiser Truly raw sound and kick ass song Rock'n Roll Disgrace "You knoooow you are.." Goldplated and heartly moment: In another post ..either it was Micks or Steves daughter who commented and said thanks for all the love to her dad, she hardly could believe it ♥

Thanks for your reaction, you've won a sub!! I'm blown away by your appreciation for Sweet, I personally think they were just unique and mega talents, totally underappreciated in their day. I'm going on 75 now and sitting here watching the guys, so young, so full of life and knowing I won't see them again until we're all in RocknRoll Heaven one day, brings tears to my eyes, but at least they're recorded for ever, for young people like yourself to know and appreciate. RIP Brian, Mick and Steve and keep on rocking Andy. x

Thanks for just choosing this clip. Here the guys sing live and most of the instrumentation doesn't come off the tape either. This song will always be in my heart because it came out when I was sixteen.

Hi Lisa, your dad was amazing. One of my greatest regrets is that I never got to see Sweet live, but my brother did. I love the video from the wedding with Steve and Brian together again.

Lisa, I hope you are immensely proud of your Dad, he was part of a superb group. It's lazy and offensive when people say they were a "glam rock" outfit, - no they were truly superb and brought a lot of joy to those of us lucky enough to be around at that time. Memories!

Thanks For this reaction. The Sweet is a band that gets overlooked a lot. So many great bands that came out at this time. I Agree with your assessment of this song. This particular song never got much air play believe it or not. Love Is Like Oxygen (Which you did) and Fox On The Run were there two big radio hits. Along with Little Willy and Ballroom Blitz to a lesser degree. Definitely got to do those three. Fox On The Run, Ballroom Blitz and Little Willy.

@@farrellvanessa I know they had, I love all of the phases though. I have a framed copy of a black and white advert for this song though...and in that, they are in full glam regalia. It's from one of my favorite albums.

@@AJAXKID123 - That is true - been following then since about '73 but classic Sweet to me is hard to beat. Very early material is also good (pre-bubblegum) - But Lies In Your eyes - Action - Turn It Down - pure attitude..... one of the reviews done in an American Music Magazine on their first USA tour said that there were new kids in town (I think it was that wording) and they are nasty!

Never ever sleep on Sweet, they get overlooked so often... they got linked into the Glam and I don't think were taken seriously which was a shame because they rule the school baby!!!

Those dancers in the background at the beginning of the video (without any music at all) lmao. 70's Glam Rock was so sexy all over the place with sonic influences. Do more glam rock, por favor (Bowie, T. Rex, early Queen, Lou Reed, The Faces, etc., and of course this band).

I've never heard that, gonna have to watch Spinal Tap again now. Although looking back at the mega talents that comprised Sweet, I can see why it's eaten away at Andy over the years, because they deserved to be more successful for far longer than they were. People say he's a bitter man these days, which is such a sad outcome because he could melt your face with his guitar work back in the day. Rock on, Andy!

I was just watching the TV show "Life on Mars", the BBC version, and The Sweet song "Fox on the Run" was playing in the background, which I don't think you have reacted to but if you have watched the Guardians of the Galaxy movies you probably have heard them. And for some odd reason this song reminded me of "Run Joey Run".

Happy to see that SWEET lives on for another generation. The album this came from, DESOLATION BOULEVARD, which was played to death in my high school back in the mid 70s by...EVERYONE.... is a classic rock must have LANDMARK ALBUM that influenced countless groups for decades to come. These guys were unlike anyone else. The glam look was silly but the music ROCKED OUT BIGTIME. seriously fantastic highly under rated drummer as well.

The Sweet were a hard rock band who had little success till they were adopted by the "bubblegum" pop writers Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman (known as Chinnichap) but after they had a few hits they started playing their own songs and went hard rock again. My faves are "Action" and "Teenage Rampage".
