Thank you for continuing this series. This is probably one of the most informative around the DCS community ; it is clearly the series I have the most interest in. This type of content, like most of your content, will not be outdated any time soon and allows us to create meaningful missions. Looking forward to the next episode.

One of the most insightful DCS channel, thank you for the contribution! It makes me want to get much better at the helos in DCS, and I will be jumping on the Kiowa as soon as it is available! It is also great to get a better feel for the tactical aspects, which are a big part of what makes this kind of simulation so attractive.

This channel is so informative 👏 it is truly something I am enjoying i can't wait for the kiowa module but really I am fascinated by the knowledge you and barundus are sharing. It truly is a privilege to have such subject matter experts share their hard-won expertise

This is some really insightful stuff. It will definitely go into future missions I make. I agree wholeheartedly about mentally facepalming when I see mission designers leaving ground units out in the open for no discernible reason. That makes for boring and repetitive gameplay. Good luck with the move and I look forward to more great content like this.

Just a little "insight" from a former grunt. Artillery is actually really great in a defensive position scenario, where you can plan/channel enemy approach paths and establish pre-planned "kill zones", where you simply watch a treeline/landmark and have a field of 100/200m depth that gets shelled into oblivion 20 sec after you requested the strike based on the virtual tripwire (treeline). As artillery can be miles away and quickly switch "kill zones" you can heavily augment lighter forces instead of getting tanks to meet the advancing main forces. Ok, only seen this in an live fire exercise, but a live artillery strike is something you don't want to be near. 😇

Absolutely. I used to teach that all the time. The trick for me is that you have to, as you said, have a predesignated Target vs just trying to shoot guys on the move. Triggers triggers triggers.

These "tutorials" are really great insight. I only knew a very limited part of the concept from my army time.

Man, that's awesome. Could you recommend some other videos or books on this topics. things that I can think when creating my dcs missions? do you intend to do more of these? really great stuff.

This was a neat video series. In the context of DCS, what could be the thing being guarded by all the screens/guards etc? I'm wondering if this is something that DCS Liberation would benefit adding in the future, but there has to be some game "meta" behind it.

Whatever the “main body” is. So screen the main body (brigade, division, whatever) to give them early warning and maneuver space.

@@CasmoTV But the "main body" isn't there for no reason right? Wouldn't the main body would be there to protect something? Or am I off base?

So how "much" of your force would generally be assigned as a screen or guard? I know it's probably dependent on scenario etc but just as a general rule?
@CasmoTV

Great but complex question. The simple answer is a troop/ company conducts screens, a squadron conducts a guard and a regiment/ brigade conducts a cover.

@@CasmoTV Ok good to know, not really used to see the big picture. Is a "squadron" equivalent to Battalion?
