Thanks for the heads-up, Dan. It cannot always be a total feast! Unfortunately...

No unfortunately not, but part of the fun of finding "the next best thing" is weeding out the middling books!

Smell and memory are often connected because they’re situated very close in your brain (the limbic system)! They’re only a few synapses apart :) got reminded bc of your chat abt the two (Fun facts from a med student)

I was recently reading an older book, my copy was printing in the 70's I believe, and whenever I opened it, the musty old book smell, instantly put me back in my Grandfathers library, I could smell the books, I could feel the scratchy carpet under my crossed legs, feel the old wooden shelves as I ran my hands along them. It was a remarkable experience, I haven't been in that room in easily 2 decades. The book was a bit crap, but I finished it just cause I loved that feeling whenever I opened it :D

I did like the sound of this one, sea monsters, cannons etc. Ill avoid the spoiler section for now, as I may still read it one day. Great cover though!

I did too! But I wish we got more sea monsters and cannons than we got. It is a great cover

@@DiggerdanReads I would love to read more pirate/seafaring/age of sail books. I will have to keep an eye out for them!

@@BenjaminsBookclub I haven’t read it, but I believe the second book in the Lies of Locke Lamora has a lot of those elements
