I like the fact that if you look at a regular hexagon, it is clear that Tau's value is a little more than 6. Pi's value isn't nearly as obvious.

I really think that a calling pi the half circle constant not only makes the case for tau it also makes pi less confusing. You don't make a circle with pi, you make a circle with 2*pi so if it's a constant for something it's a constant for a hemicircle. Or a half circle constant. Which even folks who prefer pi would likely understand makes the relationship easier to understand even without correcting the underlying error.

Euler used pi, more like the way we use theta today. He would assign it as a problem-specific constant, whichever is most convenient for the work he was doing. He'd start a problem by writing, "let pi be the circumference of the unit circle", or "let pi be the semi-circumference of the unit circle". Even the quarter circumference of the unit circle would occasionally be what he'd call pi. Somehow, the semi-circumference ended up winning, and standing the test of time. We pretty much had a 50/50 chance of getting it "right" when following Euler's work, as tau proponents would prefer, and we ended up not getting it right.

Let's not forget that the mathematical symbols we use and we're used to are definitions that were made, and if it get's easier to do math by defining new symbols, why not use tau. Think of y=sin(x), at the point of x=tau, the full wave is repeating it's shape equally as from x=0, and the half-wave zero point is at x=tau/2 (speak as: "half a tau"). If someone asks me for help with trigonmetry, I will certainly define tau= 2Pi, (let tau be 2 Pi) first and teach it that way, I'm very sure, that it's easier that way, you can measure the teachers flexibility, whether he accepts results in tau as defined.

4:09 The normal distribution only has a factor of 2 in front of pi if you use TWICE the variance as the basic scale. This is simply a choice that people make in statistics. But if you instead use exp{-(x-a)^2/L^2}, the distribution is normalized by (pi*L^2)^{-1/2}. In fact, if you integrate just the fundamental Gaussian function, exp{-x^2}, what do you get? pi^{1/2}, which answers his question at 24:45

The normalization constant depends on the choice of variance, but in all cases the circle constant enters the calculation via an integral over all angles.

In a shorter version of this presentation I got confused because they didn't show that e^iπ = -1 e^i(τ/2) = 1. Instead it seemed to me that they showed e^iπ = -1 e^iτ = 1 which is false. First I thought, how can this guy make such a simple mistake? But it's how the video is edited that is misleading at that part. Now I totally understand and can agree on this.
