BABY SAFETY: All you folks angry over the safety of the babies, please read below about the film trickery. Thank you.
This 8mm film premiered at the American Coaster Enthusiast national roller coaster convention on June 23, 1989 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. I don't think anyone had ever built a personal roller coaster in their backyard that dropped off the roof! Has anyone since either? The Termite gained national attention including the cover of RollerCoaster! Magazine and a feature in the National Geographic Explorer TV show ( • The Termite - backyard... ). Several roller coaster fan friends are seen in the film, including Mike Chew, Karen and Pat Engle, Nancy Redden, Chuck Uhler and my then-little sons Kory and Skyler. IMPORTANT NOTE: THE BABIES DID NOT RIDE OFF THE ROOF... it's called editing! They only rode the small 4-5' tall lower hill, and the camera angle was low to make it look bigger. Trust me, I was looking out for their safety (they are doing fine in their adulthood by the way). The bag-of-shame lady is my understanding wife Carol. If you've never heard of a bag of shame, see below. The KZitem video 'Termite Terminator Party' documents the funny American Coaster Enthusiast mini-event that ended the coaster's era ( • Termite Terminator Par... ). Despite the fun nature of this video and its subject matter, there are extreme dangers with this kind of project. Leave the ride building to professionals. Again, the babies did NOT ride off the roof, please don't dislike the video for something that didn't happen!

Bag of Shame: I think it's a generation thing, you don't see as many 'bags of shame' these days I guess. If you image search 'bag of shame,' you'll see fans of poor sports teams wear them. They're showing they are embarrassed to be a fan of their bad team. In this case, Carol is portraying an embarrassed wife, because of her husband (me) building a roller coaster in the backyard. It was funny to people when I made the film, now many people don't understand it. There were probably more bag of shame references in the 1980s. Unfortunately, like any joke, if you have to explain it, it's not funny anymore.
(My apologies to the 148,000+ viewers of the earlier horrible quality 2011 version, this new upload was professionally digitized and I believe looks vastly better, even though it still comes from old 8mm film)
