Dave. Amen, everything you said on the fields, Wilson talk was dead on. Alex. Could not be farther from it lol. Best podcast. Been listening since Dave and Dave. Peace and love.

Really enjoyed this discussion fellas. I'm also intrigued about Russell, but a part of me feels like at this point the team has been playing 6 weeks and getting used to a specific QB albeit Justin can play better, but if we become transparency and look around the league, there are other "elite" qbs not playing their "best" as well, and aren't shaking up the QB room looking for a "passing spark" but i understand the business side, owners/gm wants to see BOTH investments to see how to proceed into the offseason. I think there are more than one hands into this decision. I hope for Russ sake he balls out, but I hope for his sake even more, the patchwork Offensive line can give him the time for him to do what we think Russ can do.

The Steelers are still looking for The Guy to take Big Bens' spot. That's really what it's about, and Dave was hitting on it in his explanation of Tomlin-Speak. Russell Wilson, in his prime, was arguably Hall of Fame calibre. Even in his mid-thirties, he could still function at a high level, but a tad-bit slower in the right offense. If that is the case, then Wilson (Russ) might have anywhere from 2, to 5 years leading the Steeler offense. The script for Justin Fields cannot be be known for sure, but it sure looks like he can operate at a high level also, but off and on. That's what he was in Chicago, and that's what he's been in Yinzburgh. Tomlin has to find-out about Russ, NOW. There ain't gonna be a next year, unless Yinzburgh wants to pay a lot more than the minimum. And that ain't Yinzburghs' style.

Alex if Tomlin lobbied and Convinced Riss to come here is he obligated to give him a shot ? If he doesn’t doesn’t that reflect on his credibility? Specially with how they screwed over Mason and how Kenny situation played out ? And how does that impact future QB signings If neither one of these guys Pan out

No, Alex don’t put all the fanbase into that corner. There is a lot of us that want to see what Russell Wilson has and wants him to start. Fields has not lit up the field as Mike Tomlin said he’s been good not great. We need to see what Russ gives us.

yes there are a lot who want to see Russ, no doubt, but I suspect a majority want to see Fields again, and I think that is all that Alex said

Already tired of this season. Sit Fields...he is over as a thing (I'm fine with and he has been mid). However, Russ has to win at a higher rate than 4-2 start, so anything short of that is unacceptable....and we go into next years draft with an eye to QB...because frankly neither of these qbs will carry a team on their back.

*Yea ummm so I think we saw Fields "put the team on his back" like you said, vs Colts when he brought the team back down 3 scores with 300+ pass yards and 3 Tds. The following week Fields "puts the team on his back again" vs Cowboys when he leads the Offense 70 yards with under 5mins left in the game, with the go ahead Td. So those are the FACTS and try to speak the TRUTH next time*

Alex, keep in mind he was definitive after training camp, going into week 1 and what happened. Russ got hurt again. Why does that bother you? Why do you need to know? You don't? The best interest of the team is at hand not your comfort.

Another thing I find crazy is that everyone died for kenny pickett. Booed Trubisky and overlooked D. Johnson, when we drafted Pickens. Pickett to Pickens, they said. Now we need a receiver and still looking for a qb. All hail tomlin.

Some fans are acting like Tomlin is benching a QB playing like Montana in his prime; this ain't that, and Russ was named QB1 week 1. Let the coaches see what they have as we move into a tougher part of the schedule. Go from there.

Why do you make such a big deal about who he names the starting quarterback to the media? It’s not your right to know if he doesn’t wanna tell you. And the players will know their practicing that’s all that matters. It’ll be OK calm down lol 😮

I tend to agree with this. Though I do think there is some interesting discussion to be had about whether it would be better to name a QB, as it stands I pretty much agree with you that it probably doesn't matter. Even Alex himself, after he said that it bothers him, he conceded that it won't matter come kickoff on Sunday. In that case, why does it bother you Alex? :D 🖤💛

It's crazy how tomlin handcuffed trubisky then benched him on the grounds of needing a "spark" yet he was doing what he was told, play safe football. No one mentioned him being handcuffed. Now that everyone likes fields, the "handcuffing" is a topic.

@natetewkesbury bro, we are trash. Trubisky was our qb. Kenny killed our defense. During Kenny's tenure, our defense suffered so many injuries. Minka , injured twice, highsmith, Hayward, Roberts. Why? Becuase of all those 3&OUTS. As you can see, our defense is already beat up. Highsmith hasnt played all year, herbig, minka was injured during the raiders game. And we haven't played the ravens, nor cincys offense, nor the browns defense.

Alex, Mike Tomlin feels an obligation to Russell, to give him a chance? You really think this is a factor in his decision-making? God, I hope not. Mike Tomlin has one obligation, to win as many games as possible, and for all the things I question and fault him for, not understanding that has not been one of them. I love digesting your analysis, even when I disagree with it, but this might be the take I have disagreed with the most. 🖤💛
@WalkerSteel86

That was a little hyperbolic, on reflection, I guess there are multiple things I have disagreed with you on more than this. 😋 Maybe even your assertion from Monday that the state of the offensive line is not a factor in deciding who should be QB. This feels like one of the biggest factors, to me. I will hope for the best if Russ starts, of course, but the fear of it mostly comes from how much Justin has had to scramble, and how much better at that he is than Russ will be. And that was with Zach Frazier
