Me too. 2 years ago, we got in one for the first time and we were in love. I've been dreaming of one ever since. I had a 3 row model Y on order for me too...but I changed my mind when I saw how terrible it was to get into the 3rd row and it still felt like a model 3. Tiny. So, we've been patient and finally found a used model X that is like brand new. It's so beautiful and we should be bringing her home in 2 days. So, my tip to you, buy used. The guy I'm buying from bought it for $102k. And I'm buying it for a little over half.

First of all, I want to congratulate Tesla for daring to build such a different vehicle. The Model X is almost as efficient as the Model S and much more practical. The 7-seat option of the Model S is ridiculous, it would be interesting to know how long it will take before the two passengers of the third rank will get sick. The two main problems of the Model X are: the price too high for a car with this manufacturing quality and the external dimensions which are not at all adapted to the European road networks. I can’t imagine this car manoeuvring in an underground car park or riding in a small country road without having cold sweats. The use of this car is limited by its external dimensions which reserve it to the main roads, the major avenues and highways. The Model Y will be more appropriate for European customers.

Another great video, thanks Thomas !! I disagree about some pre-conclusions: package is ok, you didnt show it but the cabin luggage fits in the frunk, and in the trunk you could have placed it in upright position (with the floor removed) falcon wings, they were designed to allow limited space operation (not to be design magnet), but I find them overkill. road noise, would need to be measured as it might be a misperception because there's no mecanical noise to act as noise masking. windows/sunglasses, seems like you were driving in summer... I guess it'd be different in early/late hours of other seasons.

Good video, I'm thinking of buying an X, we test drove one but it was a performance one. Sept. 2019 they offer "free charing" to the first buyer. So the one I have picked out is 94700, but I feel cheated driving a fast one and not the one I was buying. EV are the future, oil and gas is a thing of the past. It's that simple! On my deal it cost 20 GRAND more for the fast one. 20 Grand, I mean good grief, but I am told it's a bigger motors. A little HELP HERE!

Very attractive vehicle! I wish I was in a position to own one right now. No competition in my opinion! I feel like Tesla should have a truck already. F150 number one selling vehicle for 30+years by a large margin. A Tesla truck could very well be the answer to any financial issues they have.

We have researched this issue for many years now so please take your time to go through our extensive resources stated below as they answer every single question we have yet received concerning this matter. At Autogefühl, we have already received several thousands (!) comments, messages and mails that more and more people want to combine enjoying their car with reducing the environmental impact at the same time. We believe that sustainable luxury is possible or at least we should do everything to support that. Those many thousand people confirming this trend, motivate us to give you the most authentic information and background on the product parts. It is not about what you bought in the past, and it is not about blaming anyone, it is about what you decide in the future and what you can decide and influence as a customer. So we want you to have all information that you need for a decision you later enjoy and like best yourself. In Summer 2017, Tesla motors has decided to be the first manufacturer to go all the way with sustainable seat materials, only offering fabric/cloth seats or leatherette seats in different colours. They have banned all real leather from the seating surface and at the steering wheel in the white trim or on demand. So Tesla shows where the industry will and must be heading, just like they went forward with electrification first. Check out our special video addressing car CEOs as a first summary and also see conditions of animal skin production: kzitem.info/news/bejne/rYSJu66Qkayhl5g List of practical reasons against animal skin seats: 1. animal skin seats are often sold as an expensive option, by going for base trim level seats you can save a lot of money and get a better price-performance-deal (often the manufacturers claim that animal leather is top of luxury because they can earn the best money with it) 2. animal skin seats get hot in summer and you stick to the seat, probably you need seat cooling 3. they get very cold in winter and you need seat heating 4. on cloth or microfibre surfaces, you basically don’t need seat heating nor cooling 5. animal skin seats wear out very fast and look like an old sofa 6. if you want leather look or need seats that can be wiped clean easier, the leatherette (faux leather) surfaces are meanwhile highly evolved and it is possible that it feels even softer and better than anything else (See our Tesla Model X review kzitem.info/news/bejne/2mittHt8hJNlgGU) So Tesla shows a good example for that and as described, non-leather materials are now standard for ALL Tesla 7. More manufacturer names for their good alternatives: Mercedes MBTex/Artico for leatherette, Dinamica for microfibre. BMW Sensatec, Toyota Sof-Tex, Lexus Nu-Luxe (all faux leather) To the environmental reasons: 1. The way the cows and other intelligent and social animals are raised and held are not according to the basic values that we all share (also see videos below) 2. The factory farming industry can be accounted for at least 40 % of climate emissions and thus is (according to numerous sources you can look up) the number one reason for climate change and environmental destruction. It is the number one reason for deforestation, two thirds of all agricultural land on earth is used for growing animal food crops. If you would feed humans directly by using the agricultural land, you could produce much more food for everyone. See this interesting essay for more on climate emissions background: www.worldwatch.org/files/pdf/Livestock%20and%20Climate%20Change.pdf 3. It is not only cows who are suffering, but also the environment and to a big part also humans. Think of slavery-like working conditions in slaughterhouses (there are plenty of documentaries about this) or think of chemically altered drinking water in animal skin production villages as also seen in the video footage. 4. The discussion, for which body part the cow is killed first, is very patronizing. But if you really think it would be important why someone gets killed in first place: There are many productions where the cow is killed for the skin first, sometimes even while still being (part-)alive, the skin is the most profitable single part of the body. 5. So even if a cow gets theoretically killed for meat first, in every case you give additional money to an industry that relies on killing, pollutes the environment and harms people with chemicals. Let's say you are standing at the meat counter. And you ask for the leg of the cow. The butcher tells you: "You can eat that without worrying, the cow was slaughtered for the neck first". The next customer demands the neck. The butcher tells him: "It's not your fault, the cow was slaughtered for the belly". A the next customer demands the hide, what answer does he get? You see, that argument of "byproduct" comes from the meat and leather industry to cover up that you contribute to killing no matter which part of the body you buy. 6. To the often said argument, animal skin would just be a byproduct, please google/youtube "leather is not a byproduct" you will find plenty of information. A good overview on all those issues can also be found here: adaptt.org/ To “But leatherette is not sustainable due to petrochemical production” 1. Indeed some fabrics and micro fibres are oil based, however most oil is spent on energy production, heating and fuel. The share of oil used for artificial cloth etc. is very very small. 2. If you look at the whole production process, the leatherette is way more sustainable than the leather produce. Even if you leave the ethical aspect aside, here is the official calculation of the CO2-Output animal skin vs leatherette (different kinds of leatherette): Leather 17 kg CO2/m² PVC leatherette 10 kg CO2/m² Acella Eco natural leatherette 8,5 kg CO2/m² Benova (PUR leatherette): 8 kg CO2/m² So by using the latest high-tech leatherette, you even the CO2-emissions are cut in half! 3. The best to-come solution are indeed plant-based materials like Pinatex (based on pineapple leaves) or new materials based on mycelia (roots of mushrooms) or other innovative natural products. That’s the future. A great extensive report is also to be found here: moneywisedriver.com/do-vegan-cars-exist-a-guide-to-non-leather-interiors/ More special video episodes: 1. A initial special video from Autogefühl considering the use of leather can be found here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/mZxvl3-dm4iTfYY 2. And another one right here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1YOEzZeCfmJ9d4o 3. Furthermore, you’ll find the footage of leather production also here, where people are walking in chemicals etc. and animals have to watch their friends being slaughtered in front of their eyes: kzitem.info/news/bejne/q5-mv6qrfaV6aag timecode starting 27:46 4. This is another video which very well summarizes the torture of leather production, shots taken at big farms which directly produce for the automotive industry: kzitem.info/news/bejne/sJ1-2WZpcpRyoXo 5. Please note that those videos are made by well-known journalists and cameramen who were not influenced by any animal welfare organisation, they supply their footage to the animal rights groups of course. I partly know the creators of the video footage personally and they are all authentic. You don’t have to search long to find cruel production environments anyway. Manufacturers reactions: We started the very first inquiry years ago, with the result that car manufacturers do not reveal their sources of animal skin AT ALL. If it all would be clean and happening without harm, why don’t they show it to us whereas they are showing us every other detail of their products? They have good reason not to, because there is no such thing as a clean animal skin production without harming cows, humans and the environment. The only thing a manufacturer can do is increase their effort for a better future, and we are helping with in-depth talks and interviews by presenting the increasing customer demand for sustainable luxury. Tesla was the first one to react in a major way now. So meanwhile, we more often also get feedback that a lot of manufacturers are working on leather-free interiors and are aware of the situation. E.g. Bentley, Mini and Kia have started vegan car interior programmes. Besides Tesla, Mercedes already shows major choices for sustainable interiors, you always have to pay attention to the details when ordering, of course - and we are happy to give advice. However, much has to be done still and the Autogefuehl community is massively helping in boosting the positive change! Help to raise awareness on this subject. Thanks!

Love Tesla and what they are doing….. but some points: 1. There are no ‘innovations’ here - every technology already exists, simply Tesla are the fist to combine them in an automotive vehicle. That is not an innovation. 2. Old fashion car makers (just like Tesla and any company) are about making $$$. Never forget that. Old fashion car makers are releasing their new technologies yet as their major investments are in combustion engine technology. That is why you have VW group as example that realise FULL electric cars that are nice but STILL not as fast as their equivalent combustion engine range. They CAN make them fast, but then no one will want a slow golf GTI lol

Build quality....hmm all europeans and japanese brands develop specific models for over 30-40 years and fit and finish is ok at this level of experience. Tesla launched model S 6-7 years ago and model X is what 2 years old now. You have to give them a standing ovation for what they have acomplished in so short time line. Regarding consuption,i have calculated that if i own this car in my country the cost per 100 kW of recharging at home is slightly les then 2,5€ based on the curent pricing. That is excelent . Normal car lets say new golf with diesel engine needs at best conditions 20 liters for 400 km!!! Applause from me to Tesla. And as always top top review with real end user informatios. TY for really professional work. And at end ,to prevent possible negative comments , i know what i'm talking about because i was part of a team that worked at development and testing of first generation Volvo XC90. One pro and one con that you never mentioned in this review: pro - great sound system and superquick BT connection. The music is already playing in a Tesla as you enter the car - show me a VW that does that. Con: due to all the fancy glass and rear doors and/or due to design choices, at night it is a very poorly illuminated interior, particularly in the black trim.

Those Falcon wing doors and fantastic front/rear glass screen for the roof I think are very special and a main selling point of this vehicle.. but for that amount of money, build issues ( uneven surfaces and some not well thought out cabin features ) is not only annoying but unacceptable. Also Tesla really needs to hire a better interior designer, presentation of dash/cabin is honestly disappointing, it has a very generic/appliance-like atmosphere only saved by the large display screen. Was thinking that Model X could also be a fine but expensive emergency vehicle ( 32:06 ) think they were eyeing the Model X at ( 35:06 ). Top informative tips there Thomas and another really good review.

Thanks for Thomas again excellent review. Your professional approach and true critical thinking is rare in nowadays opinion and assumptions biased world. I'm not a fun of Tesla. Driven yes as Porsche and Mercedes new models. Every has its good and bad characteristics. Would even buy Tesla, but lately one thing as also why I'm writing here very much works against Tesla; the fanboys of Tesla who don't have any critical thinking skills and who don't understand that arrogant approach, hate others if not like Tesla or rude for anyone who not in line with their own thoughts actually change image of Tesla to direction which is definitely not good for the company itself or Tesla brand and even works against electric vehicles overall. To reach this life happiness and joy (or success) must be ready to be open, respect others opinions, ready to learn more, ready to change opinions and even own habits when learning new things.

Thomas you are not very precise with “very loud”. The noise in the TESLA is different from the sound of ICE in the sense that the tire noise and airflow are subjectively amplified due to the lack of engine noise. You should use a decibel meter to substantiate your claims. You may be right but having driven Teslas for a while, also on German motorways, I’d say Teslas are quieter still than most ICE cars without the active noise cancelling. Also the ride quality with 22s is better than you claim. The bigger rims do negatively impact the range though - something that must be true of all vehicles but it is hardly mentioned in the case of ICE cars.

Great review. I think it's great compliment to Tesla when you no longer even mention that its a 0 emission vehicle and rate it as a normal car. Small build issues vs Not destroying env & poisoning humans....? Is this choice so difficult?

This is the thing that totally puts me off Tesla's...that build quality. I spotted that misalignment before he pointed it out...if you're paying this much for a car you really do not expect this...actually you don't expect it on any car.

I like the range, tech, vegan seats and the idea but the build and material quality as well as reliability is terrible for the price. Cars such as the Mazda 3 and Toyota Corolla has better build quality. It’s also lacking in features like blind spot monitoring, sun shades, head up display, massaging seats, 360 camera which it REALLY needs, adjustable headrests, rear wiper and crucially CarPlay/Android Auto. Lastly it’s just absolutely hideous, it looks like a severely obese Model Model S.

@openheimer1316

Would be much better and usefull with regular doors like MS. You cannot have cargo box on the top of the car neither compartments in the door's interior and it can be opened accidentaly. The doors it's useless, complicated, uses precious electricity (that can be used moving the vehicle) and in case of emergency is dangerous.

@autogefuehl
5 жыл бұрын
Oh and the range is better with the Tesla. Well overall it depends on the market as well. In Germany, you can get the e-tron with fabric seating, in the USA as far as the configurator shows, not. If high range is not a main point and you can get the e-tron animal free in your market, I think I'd rather take the e-tron for its better driving. Needs proper charging solution for that though and cant make very long trips. If charging situation or longer trips are important, rather take the Tesla.
@autogefuehl
5 жыл бұрын
U know it's somehow strange, just by head/logic I d rather prefer the Audi, but I rather see my heart wanting the Tesla although I know it is the worse car in build quality. Another important factor btw will be the new electric motor for the front axle in the Model X and S, which will boost range even further, making a big difference gap in range between the e-tron and the Tesla.

HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST TO PUT ALL OF THE PARTS OF A TELSA, INTO A LETS SAY A FORD MUSTANG SHELL?? AND DO YOU SEE A MARKET EXPLOSION OF CONVERTING GAS CARS INTO ALL ELECTRIC CARS?? WHICH LOOKS TO BE VERY EASY ONCE THE KNOW HOW REALLY STARTS TO GET AROUND?? CONVERT 1996 HONDA ACCORD INTO A TELSA ACCORD. AND GIVE IT ANOTHER MILLION MILES MORE ON THE ROAD?/ WHAT DO YOU THINK??

until the used market infrastructure is in place ie: servicing/garages/ paattern parts etc the residual and therefore the loss is a massive gamble. until the value can deflate and filter down into a supported used market and a proven out of warranty life people aren't going to touch these cars.

Haha about the left foot breaking: My father had never driven an automatic, but then he had to go for his job to Dubai. They had a rental car and he was driving with his colleagues. So he used his left foot for breaking hahaha.... They all gave a kiss to the steering wheel, dashboard and the back passengers the back of the front seats 😂😂😂 He still refuses to drive or buy an automatic because of this trauma lol!

I absolute love Tesla, however their build quality does need work. With every car being slightly different, I feel a 'motor trim' option should be included in the display. That way, if the door doesn't match up too well, you can have that trimmed so that it's flush.

Thomas, för the same money and family size needs, not considering environmental aspects, would you go for an X5 (G05) 40i or the Tesla Model X 100D?
@autogefuehl
5 жыл бұрын
Hey m8, compare our X5 review here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/04qQ2Z2na6CIq3Y That is even the 40i. And there will also be a new X5 review coming up soon! About the environmental aspects, what I admire about Tesla is that they really went all the way without animal skin on the interior. On the X5, you can also get Sensatec leatherette gladly, not sure if you can also ask for a leatherette steering wheel, that is worth a shot for sure. As for the drivetrain, the question at the moment is, what is really more environmentally friendly. I think it depends on the driving profile. If you do a lot of short trips inner city, EVs are clearly ahead. Plus if you re-charge with renewable energies. If you go a lot of long-haul trips, then EVs are not necessarily better yet as for this aspect.
