The Cybertruck was supposed to be in production by now. Didn't happen. Chevrolet was supposed to have a full lineup of EVs by now. Didn't happen. EVs were supposed to see an exponential increase in sales by now. Didn't happen and they're still stuck at 2-2.5% market share, as they've been for the last 2 years. Even if people say it, they can't just force people to buy what they don't want or can't afford. I'm one of the suckers. Bought a Tesla in 2019. The power band is nice, but most of the rest of it is a designed distraction from an overpriced, mediocre car. The good news is I was able to unload it last spring for most of what I paid for it. IMO they're still about 5-10 years away from true functionality.

The power train is nice, the rest of it is junk. The panel gaps remind me of GM in the early 00's. Remember the Pontiac grand AM, and the Buick sister (forget the name now) with the ribbed cladding on the side? Horrific panel gaps inside and out, and the front bumper fit so badly they put 1/2 inch thick round rubber trim around the headlights to fill in the gaps.

I got a new, late 2021 long range dual motor Model 3 in November for $54k. They made significant improvements in the car recently - the build quality and fit and finish issues of the past seem to be corrected. I was on the fence for a long time if these cars were worth the price and if Tesla would even survive. The car is a rocket ship and has almost any luxury feature you can imagine. No squeaks or rattles - very quiet car - all you hear is the tires on pavement. Drives like a German sports sedan. All with no maintenance and nearly zero operating cost. Granted, they are an appliance - no character and somewhat disconnected from the road. For some reason, Tesla struggles with the Y. The 3 and the S are really well done.

Imagine driving and needing to quickly turn the defrosters on. Pressing one button or sliding something that's right there and tactile, quick to use? Rush hour traffic, you're doing a respectable speed in a large city? Fucking stupid. Let me have to stare at a screen and figure out a fiddly touch screen that can get dirty and not work how you want it to. For christ sake, the fucking levers you operate like you're putting the afterburners on in a aircooled volkswagen are incredibly easier to use than a god damn touch screen. I just need a vehicle that starts, stops and goes when I need it. I want it to be reliable, have heat (AC optional), a radio and decent seats. The ability to play CDs is nice too. I have no desire for a touch screen, I don't want doors that open with a phone or some electronic actuation, I want a key, I want something I can understand and fix if it does break or Joe down at the local shop can figure it out for me. I genuinely will be buying a car that is even older than what I have as my next vehicle, I have two in my sights as it is. I barely drive anything other than a company vehicle, and as simple as those vans are I can already see the problems of mass computerization. A tire goes flat, you inflate it or get it replaced? Computer doesn't know that and shits its pants. The doors will lock themselves for no reason and lock you out of the van. Yes, this has happened to me. If I'm going to drive maybe 5,000 miles a year in my own vehicle, I'm going to do it in something I enjoy driving and can enjoy for a very long time. That includes fixing them myself.

Which means that many of the Tesla fans should probably be investing in a 401K or something that could help them to be more than just cool. Then, they could buy anything that they want. I rode in a Tesla model 3 for some months and the car felt pathetic. Everything felt flimsy and cheap like a 00s Chrysler minivan, the road noise and ride was worse than my MKIV Golf. I would say something about the styling, only it doesn't have any style to begin with - outside or inside. And forget about reparability - I doubt you can change a tire without setting the car into a special mode that's only accessible to the dealer. Teslas showcase everything wrong with the modern auto industry. A few attention grabbing figures, lots of gadgets, all to make up for this junkheap you call a car. Hilarious review, and yeh Tesla's are the epitome of what I call the post modern automobile. Tesla fans can say what they want. Tesla's sucess is very similar to apples. Charge more for less, funny enough the people who I know who like these cars also own apple devices.

"Charge more for less" Tesla model S Plaid faster than every other production car in 1/4 mile even a Bugatti Chiron. While also proposing the biggest storage space for his category and also the most advance infotainment system in a car. Name me one sedan in the category of the Plaid that charge less for more. Only one because I don't see. (plaid cost 130 000$)

Just look at the build quality buddy. You guys always obsess about 0-60 like it is the only thing that matters. Because it and low center of gravity are the only good selling point of those overpriced Nissan Leafs basically.

@@nonoiscool98 You guys are obsess with build quality of Tesla's. I have also talk about the infotainment system and the storage space but you only point the performance part. Moreover the built quality in these new plaid is not perfect but not bad. Personnaly I prefer paying for the infotainment system, the techs (like the Tesla app), the performance and the effiency that offer a Plaid rather than paying for the (I suppose) perfect fit and finish of the Eqs with an infotainment system which look like 2009 Windows media player. But to each their owns I guess and it is of course fine if you prefer an Eqs, for example, cars are not only about specs. (just want to add that the built quality of Shanghai Tesla is pretty good and maybe it will improve in US with the Texas factory)

I personally am no fan of all the EVs. Call me old school or whatever. I would rather spend 51k on a BMW M5 from the early 2000s. Well look man if you like your toaster on wheels. Just understand people like me want machines. Not techy toys that send me to jail every time I floor it lol. Have a good day!

@@nonoiscool98 I'm a fan of the Porsche Carrera Gt. Manual transmission, rwd and an awesome look. I was also in love with the c63 amg w204. And I would love to have the new Porsche gt3 rs 992 for the track. Howewer if I can have only one car. I would chose the Plaid because for me it is the ultimate daily driving car. Confortable, handle corner well because of the low center of gravity (as you said before) and the aerodynamic of the car. Crazy performance whenever you want. An acceleration more sensational than a Chiron until 130mph thanks to instant torque. With few mods you can even take it to the track with these new batteries. No more key to have. In winter you will never feel the cold anymore in the car because of the app. Sentry mode. No more gas station and a battery full every morning. Perfect for a Road-trip if you want take one. And if I buy a Plaid. I will not care spending less money for a car because I never make sacrifice for buying a car. If you are an old school guy that's good for you. Personnaly I prefer the benefits of this new tech at daily. But of course if you ask me if I prefer the model Y or your m5. It's 100% the m5, I like car. But for daily I would chose the model y. (more the 3 as i'm not a suv person) Sorry if I made any mistake I'm french.

@@jsciarri Yeah make it a group of Teslas full of all of these bastards telling us we can’t drive our gasoline powered cars because apparently if we don’t the planet somehow won’t get hot in 500 years.

this video had me wheezing! god bless, Bill! also, for a car that has the msrp of half a hundred grand, this thing has even cheaper materials than a 77 chevette, you can already tell that these cars are a giant bucket of already rusted bolts!

Thanks for going thru the trails to show us this unimpressive vehicle. I've heard so much about them and I agree with your take on it. Is this what people want these days? So sad. Electric cars can seriously ruin your day if the battery goes Kapoor. It can arc and weld metal. Think about an arc welder going off around you. No thanks!!!! I want nothing to do with an electric car

All the back-handed comments and assumptions are completely wrong... LOL... This is why there is still so much room for Tesla to grow... As the mis-information fades, Tesla will grow even quicker. I'll have to say, though... the music you created was pretty sweet.. and the farts were hilarious! Overall, thumbs-up! LOL.
