What a cool experience, I'm sure that's motivational fuel for another year of rust repair, bodywork & mechanical refurb! I can't imagine that feeling if the car had felt like an old heavy sloppy heap, then again, their is a reason these cars have the reputation that they do!
@outlawedmotors

sam oksner agreed! The test drive was definitely motivating. Just waiting on floor pans and I'll have what I need to get started on the metal work. I was definitely worried the ride would ruin the appeal of the e9...luckily it didn't.

Any updates on the BMW E9, I really enjoy the information and your style of delivery. While the mini is a quasi BMW product/collaboration, I imagine it's not an inexpensive project.

I had to take a pause on the E9 due to a multitude of reasons but it's still kicking. I hit a major snag that will require some serious thought as to how to move forward. I'll be posting a video about it soon.

Hi. The series is cool, even if there is not so much details E9 restoration fans would like to see (bolt-by-bolt type of movie 😉). Anyway, is this the last part of the series? Hope You're well but too busy for other parts to produce. Take care!

I've had several manual M30 cars, 635CSi, E28 M535i and an E34 Alpina B10. All were amazing. Always wanted an E9, nearly did once but it turned out to have lots of hidden rust :-( A well tuned M30 is so good that I don't see the point of the extra cost in an S38 unless it's in a heavier car like an E34.
@outlawedmotors
8 жыл бұрын
Every E9 seems to have a ton of rust issues...but if you're willing to tough out the metal work it's worth it! You've had your share of fun cars though, Especially that B10! It has to be one of the most reliable engines BMW ever built...which is naturally why it was in production for so long. I think I can get the power I want from an M30 block but I think the main reason of going S38 is I'll avoid the engine rebuild (for now). That being said I still have some time before I make that decision. The main difference between the S38 and the M30 really seem to be the head.

Goontrader2 why would you ruin the car's balance and originality by putting an engine like that in a car like this? It's like painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa. By the way, that engine lists for $11,000 in the Chevy Performance catalog. Are you writing the check on that donation, Daddy Deep Pockets? I didn't think so. Learn to appreciate a classic without destroying its value with a Brand X cross brand engine swap for which those factory gauges will NEVER work with.

Thanks! I've been working with my hands since I was a kid so moving over to cars hasn't been too too difficult. That being said, my lack of knowledge and curiosity have led to some costly mistakes. I'm about to put the engine back in so I'm hoping not to have any issues. I've gotten a lot of advice luckily. I'm fortunate enough to work for myself as a commercial director, producing commercials for the automotive and tech space so my schedule fluctuates from free time to insanity quick...when I have free time, cars are my go to...when I don't have free time...cars are still my go to lol That being said, a lot of what goes on and will be going on with this channel is in part possible due to working with some great partners who provide their services, products, time, expertise etc... Thanks for the kind words, I'll keep at it even if no one is watching :)
