Agree or disagree...why can't the Republicans/Libertarians find a candidate as lucid, coherent and compelling as Abbott at the Federal level? And someone please explain, or better yet remove, the abomination in Congress known as John Cornyn similarly from Texas...

Because the public schools doesn't teach the US Constitution, nor civics anymore. Remember, the liberals (i.e. progressive), they want sheep!

Peter Seissler ...as sadly too do the RINOs and the National Chamber of Congress whose desire for more minimum wager workers who don't question why in states like Texas where corporations like WalMart are granted exclusion from subscribing to worker's comp laws... If only it were as simple as blindly following old obsolete and unrepresentative labels.

Mike Lee probably fits that bill the best. Cruz is great as well but I can see why some people are turned off by his style. Rand Paul would be if he was a bit more engaging.

I agree with so much of this, but the idea that there should be legislative term limits is poorly thought out and foolish. In California, the state adopted term limits for all statewide offices. For executives, maybe there is a case. But for legislators, the problem is that to be elected you must put your life on hold to campaign, fight, and serve. If I was a pilot or a cop or a businessowner and I was elected to Congress and lost after two years, I can't go back. In California the result is that our legislature is a full-time body (it shouldn't be, but it is) and to be a legislator you have to give up your profession to serve. With term limits, the legislature has created endless boards, committees, districts, etc. that pay salaries to their members which "meet" once a year if at all. It is a source of corruption, waste, and excess to service former legislators. So many problems are created with term limits on a legislature. In Texas, theirs is very part-time, and it works. But the U.S. Congress is and must remain a full-time body, and if people are going to give up their professions to serve in it, they ought to be allowed to continue as long as the people want them.

Admiral of the Fleet Sir Cloudesley Shovell . I'm not so much in favor of term limits as I am in favor of incumbency limits. I would like to see a means of diluting the influence of special interest money to the campaigns of these officials, who now spend a great deal of their time in office raising. The term "lncumbent candidate" should not exist. Let the representative hold office as many times as he can get elected so long as there is a one term absence between them.

We have term limits in Texas. Which state is in better shape?
