New Crewcast. It's almost two hours long. They talk about Advent Children. We're eating good.

On the subject of AI, I’ve recently been looking to land another serving gig to bring in some extra money. Regarding some of the application processes that you are REQUIRED to go through to even get an interview a few of them require you to engage with their AI chat bots just to complete the application process, I’ve been working for about a decade and I already long for the simplicity of networking skills being enough to get an interview. Even getting a job with a marginally large corporation feels like a commodified process and it is painful at times, but sacrifices must be made to sustain oneself 😅

Another thought on AI, whoever funded the creation of the AI should be required to reveal what works their AI drew from and thus pay royalties to the artists their AI is using to create “original” works. I feel we must set these precedents before corps feel like they found a loophole to the necessary cost of hiring artists or commissioning works otherwise they will continue to get away with it and set the standard surrounding it

I can't begin to explain how tired of the "-Like" term for video games. We've gone full circle back to "Doom Clone" because somehow people have forgotten what Genres are lmao This isn't a slight against any of you, gang! Just saying in general when the description of Unicorn Overlord came up lol.

Interesting thoughts on AI generation. To me, the biggest crux of AI generation and sentience as a whole is Intent. Intent is an essential part of art, and without intent it cannot be art. Which is why AI will never be able to make art, only a product. AI cannot be sentient, and thus is unable to have any intent.

Watching this video gave me the insight as to why I adore your podcasts: the balance between your own diverse views on video games from a development & artistic perspective, as a lens on how we view our world, in combination with your humour. Many thanks!

Keep up the great editing work Jesse, you're doing an excellent job! I have a suggestion, Giant Bomb puts their chapter titles on the top left of their videos as a reference point for their current topic of discussion, is that something that could be applied here? If it's too much work, or would be of little value, feel free to disregard. Thanks for all you guys do!

Did Jeremy watch the original cut of Advent Children or did he watch the newer Complete cut that somehow adds even more boring bad plot? lol either way Advent Children is bad and I still love it for all its bad. But now Jeremy has watched the required reading to play the Remake trilogy. But it's a shame GOTY 2024: Unicorn Overlord is out now, no time for any Final Fantasy 7

I think the narrative in Unicorn Overlord is perfectly fine actually, and there's some genuinely funny moments in there too. Like when I encountered Melisandre and she spends the battle being torn between wanting to crush the Liberation Army and kinda wanting to hook up with Alain. It just made me giggle. Just simple charactisation like that is brilliant.

I'm a little uncomfortable with how Danny talked about Big Mode and other publishers from the KZitem space. How can promoting a video game that you're selling possibly be a conflict of interest? Where's the conflict? This feels like calling a commercial made by Sega for a Persona game a conflict of interest because the advertisement was made in-house. This is very confusing to me.
@TheOrian34

The conflict of interest is because the youtube channel was built on criticizing video games, so the conflict of interest is obvious because he would never say his game sucks and that people shouldn't buy it.
@SilverZephyr09

@@TheOrian34 He specifically picked the game to publish because he thought it was good, just like any publisher that picks up a title from a developer they don't own. Are we just pretending that Dunkey is the only place where people will go for reviews of Animal Well? Like people don't look at Steam reviews before they buy a product? The way Danny talks about this is nebulous, vague, and steeped in years-old bad blood between Danny's old employer and KZitem critics, Dunkey included. I take his position here with a mountain of salt.
