Greetings Robert! Another great informative video. I've had heavy prescription eyeglasses most of my life, starting as a teen. My lenses gave me a thinner profile in recent years. However, I still have some overhang as you call it. This video is encouraging to me because it is great to know that I can have eyeglasses that look great even with a challenging Rx. I have a very strong prescription. I hate that my eyes look so tiny through the thick lenses. I heard that you said that there still will be a minification of the eyes with your thinner glass lenses. My question is: with the thinner glass lenses you make is there less minification than with the traditional thick lenses. Will my eyes not look so small like they do now wearing the traditional thick lenses? Thank you. I really enjoyed your video!!

Hi Robert, we have a robust process for doing this. We require photos of yourself from the front and sides, and we also need to know the sizing of your current glasses. Does astigmatism make the lenses thicker also?
@Reprobator
9 ай бұрын
It does indeed but it won't be uniform thickness. It'll only be in certain places on the lens. This is shown by the axis which is part of your prescription. For example a -1.00 astigmatism at 90° would give you thickness at the temple and nasal side of the lens. At 180° it would give you thickness at the top and bottom.

You've got to be careful with the rolled edge. If it is exaggerated, then it will create a white outline all around the perimeter of the lens. When it comes to lens thickness, frame selection is king. Always listen to the optician's advice. He or she will know which are the best frames for you.
@thespectaclefactory

thinnest lenses the client ever gonna get at -9 but also gonna be the heaviest😂 no way he's gonna be able to wear that all day comfortably. 10% thinner than plastic but double the weight is a terrible tradeoff. this channel is focused too much on aesthetics instead of practicality.
@thespectaclefactory

You're wrong. I've talked about frame selection with glass lenses on this channel before; with the right choice, the glasses can be well balanced and relatively comfortable. I recommend to most clients to have a set with plastic lenses as well, both as a spare pair and when wearing at home for comfort. Also, the difference can be around 20-25% compared with the thinnest plastic. I understand practicality very well, having worked in optics for around 15 years.
@jojotwice8918

@@thespectaclefactory u say in this video that for people over -4 you would steer them towards glass, which is an industry no no because of the weight tradeoff. the only reason to do so is purely for aesthetics. so instead of getting people the "perfect pair" you want them to get 2? why? what's wrong with the one? because one (plastic) is for everyday use and one (glass) is purely an aesthetic choice. thinner but heavier is an oxymoron. 15 yrs of working with high prescriptions but you don't live with high prescriptions: we don't want to constantly fidget with heavy glasses that fall and strain the nose bridge
