I did not want this video to end… I became an instant fan and now on the lookout for one of these guitars! What a genuine gentleman! Why you would want a CNC made instrument (same price point obviously) when you can have a handmade instrument from a cool cat like this is beyond me?…

I'll tell ya true, I've been playing guitar for 70 years (I'm 82) when those boys cut down on "Little Rock Gettaway" it made tearscome in my eyes. Now I'm relegated to playing acoustic bass guitar in our lil Bg parlor band. I own a Martin and a Taylor and always thot my banjo playing 1968 D35 was the holy grail. Now I thing Bob Thompson and Preston THompson make the best of the best guitars

I have guitar #24, which Bob built for me in 1978. It's my regular workhorse guitar and I've never wanted or needed another one. It's a hoss...

I just got my first Thompson guitar and I couldn't be happier!! I have a Bourgeois, a couple great Martins and I'm not sure they're gonna get much playing time now that I have this Thompson. Unbelievable tone and volume, and most importantly it plays like a dream, effortless! Give Bob a call, you wont be sorry!!!

A great story. Love watching a craftman work in a well furnished shop. I've been around guitar players all my life (I play piano and accordion) in different bands and my mom played guitar and sang with her sisters since WWII. They are all gone now but i have her guitar. Best to you Bob.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Thompson at the 2012 Cabin Fever Pickin' Party in Virginia. He's a true gentleman and the sound and workmanship of his guitars is amazing.

I live in central Oregon. This area is becoming quite a musical instrument manufacturing Mecca! Besides Thompson Guitars, there is also Breedlove Guitars, and Wildwood Banjos. All make very fine instruments.

His comment at the end of the video personifies his striving for excellence and the amazing quality of the Thompson guitar! I would trade my two Yamahas and my Fender and I may even throw in my Mexican Strat for one of them.....

Not trying to disrespect or humiliate you in any way, but all of your guitars combined don't add up to a splinter of the quality & sound found in these instruments. And that goes for the guitars I've owned over the years as well.......that included 3 SWEET sounding top of the line Takamine's that were made WAY back........and a Taylor too. NONE of em touch Bob's instruments.

Hi Bobthompsonguitars! Thanks for such a nice video! I love watching vidoes of guitars being built. I was wondering why with that very dark wood back there is a sliver of very light colored wood. Is that an anomaly in the wood? I like how it looks. Also that wood for the back is very dark, black-like, see at 3:33. What kind of wood is that? It is so great that when you build a guitar it is not only the structure or looks itself, but it's the magic of creating a sonic construction, something that will create beautiful sounds for generations to come. What would the sound be like if you made a guitar and all the back of it was ebony? Would that project the sound even better than rosewood because it is so hard? Thanks for making the world a better place through your creations!

Thats african blackwood with a 'sapwood' portion in the middle. Its a very dark-coloured wood, almost black in colour. Purported to be the best brazilian rosewood subsitute.

Sure! Adi Spruce top with the African Blackwood back and sides. It gets better and better every day. A band mate actually just got one as well (same set up) and they absolutely sing onstage together.

If there was anything I’d like to see on your guitars is Hyde glue instead of modern glue. Hyde crystallizes and becomes apart of the wood. Even modern sounding Taylor has recently switched to Hyde glue.
