Sports in general, outside of boxing, for me just became less interesting to me after a certain point of adulthood because it felt weird being a grown man wearing another mans name on my back that was basically a ridiculously over paid free agent mercenary. But as a kid and teen the late 80s to late 90s Knicks were just so much fun to be a fun of. Scrappy and hard nosed. Lin on the other hand was just a unique story from being Asian not named Yao Min, and basically a total no name bench player to use this lightning rod of actual joy to warch underdog lightning rod was fun. Firstly, when Carmelo came back from injury the Knicks offense changed with Carmelo's style of play becoming too "Selfish" causing the Knicks to lose games. But, Prime Carmelo was a beast back then so when the Knicks had a choice to keep Carmelo or Lin, the knicks chose Carmelo. Lin was traded to the rockets, and perfectly enough Mike D'Antoni resigned/was fired as coach for the Knicks, and went to the rockets. But, the rockets already had enough guards like James Harden so Lin wasn't really the main man in Houston. He was traded multiple times and was a solid player with 10+ points and around 2+ assist a game, and could've been a good role model. But, injuries followed him and while having a good season with the nets, Lin was traded once again and is now not in the NBA. At least, he won a ring!
