I have to say, still one of my favorite songs of all time. I am 42 years old, grew up in the 90s, and know ALL the bands and music, and I still come running back to The Toadies, every, single, time. I still don't think they know how much they touched their fans, or how deeply ingrained into our beings their music is. They deserve nothing but the best in life! Viva Los Toadies!

Toadies were heavily inspired by the Pixies, and you can tell that the intro on guitar sounds similar to Where Is My Mind?, but reversed kind of where it goes high note to low note instead of low note to high note. It's a very interesting nod to the Pixies while being able to make their own song completely distinct and awesome in a completely different way.

I remember reading an interview with the singer years ago in a rock magazine. He said this song was about a real case near where the band is from where someone was breaking into houses, making a sandwich, taking a beer if available and standing outside the bedroom door listening and eating his sandwich. I think he said the guy never hurt anyone or robbed them of anything more than lunchmeat, bread, beer and privacy then again this was almost 20 years ago and I smoke alot of weed so my memories might be a bit hazy..
@jamesquirk8656
5 жыл бұрын
Yup. The song title is from the singer's hometown, Tyler, TX. He talked about how he liked hanging out with older people in his family and listening to the stories they would tell about the neighborhood. "Tyler" has a bit of mystery surrounding it - some insist it's a song about vampires - and it was funny to hear the singer's mundane explanation of it. Like literally, it's a song about a peeping tom story told by his grandmother. Either way, amazing song, great band. I had no idea there was even a video for this! (And a dumb one too, alas.)

this song reminds me of a fateful and hastily planned road trip from southern California to central Texas. I was young and stupid enough to think love was all one needed....but my god did it feel good.

I have always loved this band. I'm so sick of people commenting that they play it on Guitar Hero. This band was one of my staples in high school. Still love it today! I miss that era of music.

Tiffany D'Andrea my dad showed me how to play it. He was like "Wanna learn some Toadies?" I was like totally, pop. So now I know how to play it lol. Had to look up the song because I hadn't heard it before but it was absolutely worth looking up and definitely worth learning. The Toadies rule

why? guitar hero and rockband were staples to many younger people's childhood, including mine at 18. i might not have the taste in music i have today if it werent for rockband 2. i wouldnt be the fan of modest mouse, duran duran, the offspring, silversun pickups (and really any other the smaller indie bands featured), smashing pumpkins, rush, jethro tull or pearl jam that i am today. my dad and the rock band games are where i get my taste in music from, and that's okay !! just because somebody grew up differently than you doesn't mean their expereinces are inferior or any less special than yours.

***** Possum Kingdom isn't actually about rape, though it does sound like it. It's about an immolated spirit haunting a lake, trying to tempt people to kill themselves and join it in the afterlife. A sequel to "I Burn". Source: "Dark Secrets of Rubberneck" - look it up here on youtube :)
