Love it when you jam out on the piano Tom. You should grill up some eggs, bacon, maybe some hash browns in a skillet on that cool old wood stove that you have in the background, maybe a couple of dog friendly type sausage that you could give to Charlie or something like that.

I like how the lighting accentuates the natural wood and stove. I think you should have some very minimal fill lighting for your left side (if that's what it's called) just so the left side of your face isn't totally obscured in shadows. Looks a little sinister/mysterious, but maybe that's the effect you want. A sinister and mysterious test here on the Tom Green podcast. P.S. We love Kia! (and Fanny and Charley) P.P.S. Plasticine volcanoes injected with new words are ridiculous.

Thoroughly enjoying the wiser and tamer version of Tom Green. I remember watching your show in the 90s when you were still recording at Rogers 22 in Ottawa. Crazy antics like swimming in the old pond at Rideau or pissing off that old man across from the war memorial. Great to see how you’ve come full circle and come back home. I left Ottawa in 2021, miss it sometimes. We both went to Algonquin. 😂 Enjoy this last long chapter dude. All the best. Looking forward to your show at the NAC. Plasterscene volcanoes.

He flew into the old Denver airport and they shut the place down with special chapel stuff and free airfare changes. Last time I was in Ottowa I was a virgin going to a party for George Michael fans. I came back to college on a bus and I had lost my voice for 7 days. James Robinson the third. He was a window salesman and his beautiful wife painted and pulled her hair out.

26:43 - Can totally appreciate this sentiment. Politics, which is toxic and divisive almost 100% of the time, is an unfortunate part of our work, but we appreciate your honesty on this. Canada needs more of this mentality, and less politics. --> Farming, hunting, target (and sport) shooting, enjoying the tranquility of nature, sustainable living, deep relationship with the land, and several other amazing qualities found in the Canadian wilderness/culture... We can 100% get behind that. Well said sir. ... Like a plasticine volcano...

Tom, as a dog trainer, I noticed that when you give a command to your dog and also to your horse, you repeat it too many times. When you repeat it many times, they get annoyed so therefore do not listen, and ignore your command. You need to make sure to train and teach each command on a leash to make sure that Charlie learns the command and once he learns it, you just need to say it once and a maximum of three times to make it happen. If he doesn't do it within three times, you stop repeating yourself and try agian some other time.

Pleistocene Play-Doh Sows Salty Fossils! Quench by Quaffing Tom Green’s Old Tyme Sassafras Sarsaparilla. The lighting and the set look so inviting warm and iconic Tom! The wide shot including the entire table and you and roaring fire is framed really well, and I would never get tired of it. The reduction of dolly shots and slower wider dolly shot helped to slow the visual pace, and leave more room for the content. I like what you said about focusing on the voice and not image like radio broadcasts of old. The silence in between your words, and not having annoying bumper music or sound effects, has a comforting literary aesthetic that is classic and always resonates on a base human level in the same way that sunsets are never cliche, and are always beautiful. Also, this delivery stands out in an era where constant stimuli and redundant rapid-fire cuts saturate the landscape, suffocating the ability to pause and reflect. What a welcome refuge you can create with your mission of avoiding politics and other divisive topics. Such topics are important but those formats are ubiquitous and plentiful. It is also important to nurture our humanity and make plenty of time for positive, inspiring, enlightening pursuits. The good things in the world are what we are here for. This even makes us better warriors when need be. You’re on a good path. Just keep being you!
@Super_Luminal_360

Also, the head on shot is awesome and cinematic lighting is compelling. I actually dont hear any plosives or sibalance without the pop filter. The placement of the mic is good framing wise because it is out of the way of your face. I know you said you want people to focus on your voice, but the head on shot is also good for people who want to watch the segment, and resonate with your energy, expressions, etc. A pop filter partially obscuring your face would be a barrier between you and your audience. However, I dont know if guests would have the same discipline to stay exactly off axis on their mic, like you are doing. Hope my observations aren't annoying. : )
