@jazzmanchgo

@mama T An "open tuning" means that the strings are tuned to make an actual chord, so the musician just needs to lay her finger across the fretboard and move it up and down, rather than make actual chords with her fingers. It looks to me as if Dolly is doing that here.

A great quote from Dolly, "I'm not unhappy about turning 40, I'm unhappy because I'm FAT & 40!" She's always looked great, but I'm certain she feels much healthier after the weight loss. Truth be told, I would bet she began to experience back pain as time went on, due to her "proportions". She is a really petite person & being "that" big on top, it's only a matter of time before physical problems take place as a result. Certainly the weight loss has helped with this.

How very sad, I grew up poor but I did not know I was poor. My daddy joined the Navy at 17 and married my mama at 18 and had my brother at 19 and had me at almost 21. Once he worked his way up to an officer, Lieutenant Commander we had so much more, but we never thought about what we had when we were younger. I tear up when I think of all the hours my mama spent on a non-electric sewing machine making clothes for my sister and I. She always felt that I needed two baby dolls for Christmas and every Christmas no matter how poor we were or how cheap the dolls were I always got two dolls from Santa. We grew up happy, and I have such happy memories until the day my brother was killed in Vietnam in 1968. The Joy was gone from our family for a long time, but it was still in our hearts deep down. When we got to the point where we could talk about him, we would have long conversations of our childhood and the things that we did and the fun things we did with a thoughtful of marbles you could take a half a dozen kids and have a ball all you have to do is find a dirty spot that you can draw a circle into. Kids don't know about things like that now everything is electronic, yet I have such a great memories of doing it. I would go back to my roots in a heartbeat. Of course I am sort of still there. Because of daddy being in the Navy I grew up up and down the East Coast just from one navy base to another. Then I left home to go to college, and moved back to my hometown where I was born. And then I guess I had the moving bug from being in the Navy but I have worked in florida, alabama, tennessee, New York, Georgia, North carolina, and the Alaska bush. I was happy everywhere I went and with the exception of New York, I could have spent the rest of my life in any of those towns many of them towns with a lot of poor people and while I am no longer poor the people in the town I live in right now are nowhere near rich, and I feel like I have going back to my roots because I guess I never really left them. I am actually now living in the town I was born in.

Piano celeb , true we grew up watching the Johnny Carson show . It was always on in our home . There's a wonderful biography here on KZitem that you can listen to . It's simply called Johnny Carson by Henry Bushkin . I can't recall but I think Bush can recites it himself . Fascinating book and a lot that I did not know . It's the kind of book from which they should really make an outstanding miniseries if they could find somebody that looks , sounds and moves like Johnny Carson . And if you end up liking that you might like the one about the life of Rolling Stones founder Brian Jones ... also here on KZitem by audiobooks . And there was one by Joan Rivers which sort of overlaps with some of the material in the Johnny Carson book .

Interesting, her guitar is tuned to a major chord.
@tallman4040
3 жыл бұрын
It's called open tuning, and it's because of her long nails, she wouldn't be able to form major chords. So, she open tunes it to say "C", then this allows there to bar the strings, (chords) up the fretboard....so for example, if in C, and she needs to go to an F, she would just bar the 5th fret. and if she needs another chord, she would just bar on a different fret. It makes it alot easier and doable with those long nails.

No one knew there was such a thing...... we normal used it to improve our own childhoods as Santa and Mrs. CLAUSE IN REAL LIFE...... THE GOVORNMENT KNEW IT WAS THERE AND THEY'D USE THE SALVATION ARMY TO BRING US IN REAL LIFE I shit you not Everthing in the letters to Santa........ Denver used to be the North Pole for the U.S. Postal service..... Dolly would retire, I'm old and we'd just remember stuff that we really needed or wanted to add a little to our own look since it was our idea but we bought the stuff for ourselves anyhow, that way we could always tell our stupid brothers and sisters that we were Santa and Mrs. CLAUSE FAVORITE AND LISTEN TO OUR LITTLE SELVES SAY I'M GONNA MARRY MRS.
