The Tonopah & Tidewater has been gone for 80 years, yet there is plenty of evidence of its existence.
The T&T operated from 1907 to 1940, hauling borax and other items along with passengers. It was originally planned to run from Tonopah NV to San Diego, CA, but like many railroads of that era, the name was of a greater vision than the railroad had means.
Take a ride with us and explore the area just north of Ludlow, California, through Broadwell Dry Lake, and into the hills north.
The desert has been kind to the roadbed, and many railroad ties are still in the ground. Imagine yourself in the cab of a steam locomotive as you travel through the area in July.
