I don’t think we should romanticize Coleman. Yes, there probably won’t be another Coleman. But his is a cautionary tale, a tragic one. A man who was willing to pay the price for his accomplishments. Knowing now what has happened he has said he would do it again. This tells me he didn’t care about his health. Does this make him a bad man? No, of course not but it does speak to his mindset. A very distorted way of thinking to engage in an activity without any regard to consequences. He can’t walk and he’s not that old. He’s in pain, physical and I bet mental too. And yet he still has not regrets. Ok, fine. At least he owns his responsibility in putting himself this way. The man is burning money that he could have been enjoying in his retirement. Now it’s being spent just to live. Glory and fame fade. In the end you have what you personally are, your health physical and mental. Who among his fans is taking care of him? Who? The cheering crowds are no longer there for him. They never really were. It’s a Roman theater where the fans cheer without regard for the gladiators. The sad thing is that many others will try to follow his path to self destruction. But hey, he’s got 8 trophies right? That’s the most thing right? Above physical and mental health I guess 🤷🏻

You missed the point. Like what he said to joe rogan. Yes he is in pain but he still works out becuase he loves it. If it was just about fame and trophies . Why is still working out. It's what makes him happy.

Why should we be sad? He purposefully put himself in that situation today and said he would do it again. We shouldn’t celebrate it of course but why is it sad? Those surgeries were never going to fix that damage. It was always a matter of pain reduction, if that, and just to barely get by. The lesson of Coleman is a cautionary tale. It’s also a tragic one.
