I had a similar problem with my f150..the ac would not work and the guage cluster was acting wacky with lights turning on and off and the needles sweeping. Ended up being a shorted wire running along the wire chase on the drivers side.

I want to thank you. I have a 2010 explorer with RSC alarm going off and started on resolving it months ago. I purchased the vehicle with the issue. I thought based on KZitem it wa a faulty ABS module. My scan tool was not high tech enough to run most of the test you referenced but you point out in the end go back to the basics, check the fuses. Well low and behold it had a fuse missing.. replaced fuse and so far problem is resolved. 👍 Got to run the drive the full cycle but either way this is a huge step forward. Great video, sincerely thank you.

Plumbers have leaky pipes they say.. Great video! Great info! But I gotta say as a field tech that sure is a lot of steps and hardware to find a blown fuse 😅. I just bought an Autel ms906ts pro I love it so far. But It don't have that topology feature unfortunately. I'm currently tracking down an intermittent can bus issue on my own personal truck. Stopped by this video to brush up on some diagnosis steps to track it down. I have a good feeling I'll find water intrusion due to a sunroof leak. Just need time away from fixing customer vehicles so I can fix my own 😅

Hello, Pete. As far as I know, the module transceiver is responsible for the voltage differential in the CAN NETWORK. If you have a bad transceiver, how would you find the module with the bad transceiver? Would you have a U code?
@MotorAgeMagazine
3 жыл бұрын
The best way to find the bad module is to monitor the CAN signals on a scope while you unplug the modules on that network one at a time. When you see the pattern return to normal, that's the module that has failed. Start with the modules that are easiest to get to...

Are you able to do a full system scan to see what modules are, or are not, communicating on the bus? Do you have access to a scope? This newer video may be helpful: kzitem.info/news/bejne/lp2PtIxjoZGjfoY

Could be an intermittent problem. Have you tried clearing the codes to see which ones remain active? Typically, the one module the others are pointing their fingers at is a good bet to be the one with the issue. But make sure it has what it needs before condemning it.

Hello, Pete. The terminating resistors complete the CANBUS circuit, I would say. How do you get voltage in the CAN lines if you disconnect a module containing a resistor? Thank you.
@MotorAgeMagazine
2 жыл бұрын
I went to an expert and asked. My friend Bernie Thompson at Automotive Test Solutions (kzitem.info) says, "In CAN each module or Node is a multi-master. That means that each module can supply the CAN voltage on the Can com wires".

Hello. I have a problem with a can bus. No u codes. I can communicate with all the modules but i can't get live data. As soon as I try read the live data on any module, the scanner takes me out and display a message of no communication. I have literally done everything. I don't really know what else I can do to diagnose the can bus system.

But these automotive channels need to produce videos with dramatic content. I can't believe all these comments saying good job .....does anyone not check fuses anymore 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
