Hedi Slimane really made me take particular notice in Saint Laurent. I remember one day I was on the streets and I saw the Saint Laurent campaign featuring Finn Wolfhard. Slimane brought an edge to the brand and for that I really admire the fashion house a lot more.

That literally just went through my head yesterday how Hedi added the whole rock & roll vibe to YSL. The decadence was there already, but not the rock edge. (Also, holy vocal fry)

I feel this is your best video yet! In general the videos where you cover YSL are my favs, including the one with Rose! The evolution of this brand is so interesting and have become more distinguishable because of it.

I have mixed feelings about Hedi Slimane. I loved Phoebe Philo's work at Celine so much that anyone coming after her would seem like a disappointment to me. But analyzing Slimane's work at Saint Laurent and drawing the connections between the two designers, as you have, makes me reconsider. Thank you for another excellent and informative video.

Luckily for us, Hedi didn’t replace Phoebe Philo after a battle to the death, so Hedi working at Celine and not SLP is merely a name change. Fashion is more about following designers than brands anyway

@@edgarmartini8516 The truth is people who were upset cared more about the brand name than Phoebe. This is also why I predict Phoebe's new venture will tank. The most vocal supports aren't actually the ones who will financially support her new venture.

For the ones complaining about her voice if you don’t like it/can’t stand it then leave. Problem solved😐. This is her natural voice deal with it. LITERALLY in every single video there’s comments complaining about her voice. Stop being such babies🙄. If you KNOW you can’t stand it then don’t watch or lower the volume and turn the captions on.

My pet peeve with this, is that; in a contemporary society, already saturated with clothes like this. The idea that this, is heralded as genius, feels like a slap in the face and quite reductive.

The vocal fry on the narrator is impossible to get through 😐
@Cledyston
3 жыл бұрын
Exactly. It's extremely distracting and the rhythm of her speech added to the fry makes it sound just like babble to me. I know there's a lot of content there but it just sounds rushed through while trying to sound mellow. It's not a natural rhythm to speak while using a vocal fry. You know what I mean? When people do any kind of vocal fry is when speaking really slow and relaxed. Anyways...she should stop. LOL

It would be more correct that it catered to skinny people who aspired to white people culture. That's the whole shtick of French fashion houses anyways. They sell their Frenchness.

There is a problem with being skinny or white? Should we just cater to whatever group is looked onto as the most marginalized? Should we just cater to disabled, transgender, lesbian, black, latin, fat, Muslims instead?
