Additionally, Miranda's cat is to be referred to only as "Miranda's cat", or by Miranda's cat's name. When Miranda goes to work, Miranda will refer to Miranda's coworkers only by Miranda's coworkers' names. Miranda presumes this comment is an example of what the anti-pronoun people want. That's not ridiculous at all, Carol! Situations like that are actually relatively common among older folks, from my experiences at least. My 50-year-old mom didn't know much about trans people until I came out to her 4 years ago. Yes, she did say some harmful things at first, but she never intended to hurt me. Yes, it took her a while to adjust to my name and pronouns, but she put in effort into respecting my identity. Despite being very confused about LGBTQIA+ identities, she continues to unconditionally love me for who I am as a queer person. She's trying, and that's all that matters to me It's ok if you were ignorant in the past. What matters now is that you're actively learning and trying to respect us trans people. Honestly these people get so obsessive about trying to catch trans people irl that they start accusing random cis people of being trans simply bc they committed the high crime of not looking like the most over-exaggerated caricature ever. I remember reading about a very funny instance where a cis terf tried to “clock” a “trans” woman from an image of a protest, and she mostly pointed out their forehead and eyebrow bone structure. She made a huge deal on the specific feature. Soon after her post is seen by more of her terf compatriots, they look at her (op’s) profile picture, and then realized she has the exact same bone structure! They instantly turned on her and lambasted her for “being a TIM.” So ridiculous. They don’t even know what women look like anymore. And also, foreheads are such a weird thing to try and make the case for perfect sexual dimorphism. I used to be very dysphoric about mine (pronounced slope and somewhat heavy brow) but the more I looked at other people’s profiles, the more I realized it’s not that consistent. Like its enough that it makes sense to generalize, but also it’s not that rare to see a cis man with a round forehead 😂

Hi there! Fellow Cis gal here. I think it's wonderful that you are willing to take the time to learn about people and be respectful to them! Many experience jealousy from seeing people so open with their identity while they feel they have to hide theirs. Nether of these are excusable though. Lashing out at people out of fear or jealousy is still wrong and hurtful. And yeah, they are an embarrassment. Sadly they are also very loud and vocal and they drown out the positive voices. I feel that homophobia and transphobia often go hand-in-hand for the same reason: most homophobes are Christian, and biological sex equating to gender is VERY important to them. For instance, I had a conversation with my mother. She's not outwardly homophobic because she takes a "judge not" stance, but she does think non-heterosexuality is wrong, and is willfully ignorant when it comes to trans people despite my stepbrother being trans male. Anyway, our conversation was a hypothetical scenario I had presented to her. She's young and engaged to the perfect boyfriend. He's so handsome, kind, devoted, and a master in the sheets. On the day of their wedding, he confesses to her that he was born as a girl. Would she still marry him? She said no. She could never be with a "woman." Even if "she" looked like a man, treated her right, and she had fallen madly in love with "her", my mom said she would never be a lesbian. It's so disappointing. I don't know how to make her understand anything related to LGBT, especially my own identity as aroace. Anytime the subject comes up anymore, I just deflect because it gets so exhausting saying the same things and not a word of it being heard. Well, sorry for the comment novel. But thank you for being supportive and willing to educate yourself.

I'm not sure exactly how old I was when I learned about the possibility of being transgender, though I'm pretty sure it was in high school, so the 2000s. It made perfect sense to me when it was described as the brain not matching the body. I'd heard of and learned about lots of different birth defects before - biology and anatomy nerd here - so it made perfect sense to me that, as a trans person, you'd change whatever might be needed or wanted on the body so it matches the brain living in it. Since you can't change the brain, change the body. People change LOTS of things due to birth defects. No one has said anything about me fixing my eyes or removing a bad gall bladder. Both were birth defects and I elected to have them fixed. It shouldn't be considered any different, whatever form a person's transition takes.

"Men wear trousers and women wear skirts." My school did this until this year. They've been open 7 years but this year they changed the dress code so girls could wear skirts. And my androgynous presenting she/they self was extremely happy. Still won't let boys wear skirts though, which is sad.

Wow, my school has been open for 60 years, I entered it in 2011. They forced boy to wear trousers and girls to wear skirts… they even made me loose a year because I refused to wear skirts, every single day I was send to the principal and every single day I had to endure the “you are a GIRL so you MUST wear a skirt” bs, I spent a total of 8 years in that school but never give them the “onor” (as the called it) of seeing me in a skirt… on my last year there they changed the school rules so girl could wear trousers but not more than three times a week (school week was six days) and in total they had to wear skirts for at least 70% of the total school days (professors keep count). Still never wear a skirt, even when the principal called me out for it during an assembly in front of the whole school (about 1800 kids) Really loved high school (joking obviously)

One time some boys at my high school staged a "protest," whining about how girls got preferential treatment because they could choose to wear skirts or trousers. One of the teachers got sick of it, looked up the school dress code, and told them there was no rule against boys wearing skirts. The next day they wore skirts to school to "protest," only to discover that absolutely nobody cared. Not only is the regret rate SUPER low with those who have transition, the majority of thos who have expressed regret list things like lack of social support and discrimination as the reasons why they regret transitioning. 12:12 - maybe that individual just has a family history of male pattern baldness (such as the hairline receding the way it is depicted) being relatively early onset? I know that’s something that’s happened in my family (my uncle started greying and having hair loss in his 20s) so when i get to a gender clinic and discuss testosterone, i’m gonna mention it. because i know it’s a thing in my family. a thing id rather not have any time soon. a thing that can be adjusted for with other meds. like…i’ve seen a lot of upset about it but of course testosterone is gonna make you look like your cis dad/brother/uncle - that’s how it affects your family?!?!? personally i’m hoping it’ll make me look more like my uncle (i mean, my mum’s genes have been strong so far, and they’re not too different beyond one has an estrogen hormone system and the other has a testosterone one. ok and build, but i don’t know how much of that is the hormones either). like…surely you know men in your family? and whether they lose or keep their hair? even if you can’t ask them? or maybe you can? also with the PCOS thing - from my understanding of it, it increases the level of testosterone you have in your system (like it is considered an intersex condition because of this), so…sure, taking more testosterone probably accelerated it, but it was already happening BECAUSE OF natural testosterone (probably, im spitballing here, but it is known testosterone is increased by PCOS and that testosterone is the hormone that makes you grow facial hair and lose head hair, which is why that can happen with PCOS, so it makes sense)

A woman regretted transitioning and of course, tons of people used that as a gotcha moment to campaign against gender affirming surgery and complaining against medical malpractice. Except, get this, her doctors advised her _against_ surgery. I don't remember exactly how she got the surgery (or perhaps she just used HRT?) but it would have been through shady doctor shopping. Also, there are examples of western cultures in history that don’t have skirts = female, trousers = male; the Scott’s wear kilts which lets face it, are just a form of skirt, and in Ancient Greece, wearing trousers was seen as effeminate. Also, also, if we were to gender clothing based on biological sex, surely it’d make more sense for skirts to be for ‘men’ and trousers for ‘women’? 🤔

Well I as a male doctor like your chest and I won't ruin that" And it has happened. I heard of doctors refusing breast reduction or reduced less than the patient requested because the surgeon liked them at that size They behave as if the person haven't thought this through And like Jammi says. My brother told me (before I started T, and expressed fear of losing my hair, which did happen) "it's just hair, if you feel more at home in your body, it's just hair." I wish he'd warned me about the butt hair though. 🤣🤣

I never lost my hair but I wear and style wigs. It's a pretty easy option for anyone who has experienced hairloss. And on the plus side, you can have multiple unique hair each day lol

Also just out of curiosity what do y’all think about Oli London, turning his life around and starting to be transphobic and blaming trans people for his own assholey ness

Trans people are only happy because they're on drugs? I'm not on HRT but I am euphoric when I chest bind. Are my chest binders full of drugs then?

Homophobes be like "I don't feel like my homophobia would be welcome in this inclusive space." Yeah, that's the point.

I’m female presenting and I wore a suit to prom and I looked fabulous and more amazing than the men there so I should be allowed to wear what I want as long as I look the best
