I got to see them years ago at the long lost Bottom Line in NYC. Sat right up against the stage just a few feet from Trey and was blown away by what I heard that night. Really stunning.

Discipline is NOT an end in itself... remember... it is a MEANS to an end. Trey has picked up the ball and is moving it forward from where Fripp last dropped it, lol... this is unbelievably good, whether or not he borrowed a theme from KC.

I've been listening to both this and 'sheltering sky' and to be very honest, I cant figure out how one can call this a ripoff of 'sheltering sky'. Good tune. The drummer is the pick of the lot on this tume. He can play both the tabla and the drum kit and sound good. Incredible.............

Very tight work, Trey clearly taking after Tony Levin's work on the Chapman Stick (the Warr Guitar & the Chapman Stick are similar....). I'd like to see Trey do more of this clean austere style.

Cannot agree with the opinion, that Gunn's musikc is focused on technics and maths. Maybe, i am crazy, but I think that this is the music art of hi-leveled emotions with great emotional spectrum. It doesn't means that this is hysterial and that is not intelligent, I think it's both, and it makes Gunn's music unique.

It is unique and powerful in the way it displaces the time and melodic motion. That is why it is hi-level emotional spectrum. You are so right.

Gunn is a very emotional player he just happens to blend emotion with a playing style that is technical and compositions to match the marriage of the two. I agree that his music is unique for this.

As a jazz musician, I think rock fans have something to learn from jazz. Jazz artists borrow and trade licks all the time, that doesn't mean they're bad or unoriginal, they're just using ideas of others to build upon their own, just like in this song.

Marvellously "crimsonian" if you folks will allow me to say. It's a real shame that Trey Gunn is so underrepresented in the music world IMHO. I love his early QUODIA stuff, but generally all his stuff sound crisp musical and precise, like a well played Back clavicembalo fugue :-)
