I have one and it’s very very easy to live with in Spain, great roads, very little rain, great road surfaces and much higher speeds than you can manage on tiny wet Cornish roads. You just don’t feel the weight and it’s remarkably nimble. A reverse gear would be just the icing on a fantastic cake! Thanks Freddie

Shockingly I’d choose the sport glide over that huge lump. However, today I was riding around the back roads and muddy green lanes on my 130Kg Yamaha Serrow. It’s got an air cooled 2 valve engine with 20hp and tyres that look like they might fit a mountain bike. It can hit 70mph with its five gears and bimble around in top without complaining. I can just about flat knee it, never mind flat foot it-so close to the ground that falling off would hardly be catastrophic for either of us. 70mpg, low road tax and just £30 to add it to my other bikes insurance for the year. We did 70 miles this afternoon, taking us 3 solid hours and I’ve got a grin like a Cheshire Cat. Swap for a Triumph Rocket ? No chance.

So, park or turn where it's favourable.

You probably need to get yourself a nice long few weeks with it to get properly acquainted. The ergonomics are very adjustable (two types of bars, front and rear peg locations and adjustability at each), so you could easily get it set up so you didn't get back pain.

Rocket. Definitely, a Rocket over any HD - the build quality is amazing: the quality justifies the price. I was leaning towards a Diavel but once I saw this in person, I set my sights on the R3. At 6’2”, 100 kilos, I have concerns about the forward strain over time in the saddle on the R3; however, I’m not a fan of the forward pegs on the GT - so time will tell. Yes, a reverse would be nice. There are many courses on how the better handle baggers with comparable weight, offered by the police or others (in the States). So, will check that out.

I took the R3 GT. It’s extremely comfortable even for long rides. It took me just a few minutes to adjust to the forward pegs coming from a Speed Triple. You could always swap the handlebars on the R, or the pegs on the GT, it’s easy to do.

Basically it´s a bike everyone (me included - will do end of August) want to ride at least once. But the price, the low fuel economy, some gremlins reported in T forums plus maintenance and tyre cost keep even those who could afford it away from it. @ Freddie - well done review - had to giggle when I saw you trying to reverse the bike - I struggle the same with my TEX with panniers fully loaded - even the slightest gradient makes it impossible. Something to think about! Would be interesting to see a starker comparison between a modern small capacity single cylinder lightweight bike and a bike like this - the liveability factor is really interesting. I have a Husqvarna Svartpilen 125, its so flickable because it is so light, probably the polar opposite of this, although similar in styling (If you were to make a grandfather of the bike). The 125 has an optional grab handle on the back, which allows you to dismount and put your full weight into moving the bike when you're in a sticky situation, I imagine this bike could benefit from that massively.

Hi Freddie, about 9 years ago I purchased a new Diaviel, Ducati and Bugatti are all part of the VW Group, so the engineers brief was to make the bike faster accelerating than the Veron whose 0 to 60 was 2.5 seconds. It achieved a 2.49 time, which beats the Rocket. The formula is power to weight, the Rocket may be faster accelerating at 100mph plus to its top speed, but how fast would the ride become…. too much wind blast ? I cruised on the Diaviel at 135 mph on the autobahn, but I had a touring screen. The name for the Ducati in English is devil, after 120mph the air box gives off a banshee wail, well named Enjoyed the video, glad you didn’t drop it, it looked a handful. Beautiful work of art.

It's very impressive, and it'll give you great bragging rights in the pub..... But what is it for? Not for pootling along enjoying the scenery. Yes, it will do that, but so will many cheaper lighter bikes which are much easier to live with. It's for hooning! If you don't hoon on it, you're wasting it! But won't that get a bit tedious after a while, having to hoon everywhere? Pretty soon you'd be trading it at Triumph dealer for a Speedmaster or a Bonnie. And, even if you accept all that, as Freddie says it is a bit of a stress inducer. Is that what anyone wants from a bike? And I dread to think what you'd do if you dropped it while struggling to manoeuvre it on your drive. Maybe it should just be parked indoors as a piece of automotive art?

Honestly you looked genuinely intimidated by the bike now I don't know if the sound of panic was real or put on for effect but I don't think you were on the right roads to give that bike a fair crack. Would I buy one ? no because it doesn't suit my needs but I am glad it exists and I don't think you can compare it to Harleys because it is such a well engineered refined machine. It's like a heavy weight boxer in a tailored suit & tie it looks super smart but you still know that with one punch it could take your head off and if that is what takes your fancy I don't think anything else will do.

I was thinking the same as you said, but you put it into words better than me, for me, too heavy, too big & I don’t like stress inducing country roads that some Range Rover will come flying round at any minute whilst on a bike that will take up half the road itself. I love the look of the bike but I think it would take the fun out of daily riding and nipping about, which is why I ride mostly. So it’s a light manoeuvrable bike for me. Besides the fear of dropping it would make me drop it and I’d need 5 people to help me pick it up again.

It was a very nice video. Thank you for your effort. As far as I can tell, its biggest shortcoming is that I wish it had a reverse gear due to its weight. Since my English is not very good, I used google translator. I apologize in advance if there was a wrong translation. Thank you for your understanding.

The only problem I have with your video's is that I find myself falling in love with the specific bike you review each time... I'm waiting for you to test the new Super Meteor 650. I wonder if this is the bike for me. Keep up the good work you two.

Had to pause about 10:50... ROFL I'm watching this video at maybe one in the morning California time, and had to try not to wake up my family from laughing my butt off as Freddie's trying to back that thing up, lol! I'm a little more fortunate than he is, I'm a bit bigger, but he is not exaggerating as he's trying to pull that thing back out of the way! Aww, I did need this laugh though. Sorry Freddie! Thank you both so much for not editing that out! Yep, screw it, just push it forward into the grass, you'll get her out of there, lol.

I’m not into motorcycles or know much about them. But if I were to come out of a coma a completely different person with a passion for bikes this would be a dream 😎 such a cool beast.

Congrats on 100K subscribers guys. Your vids are SO entertaining and rewarding to watch. As for this astonishing bike...jeepers!! Bit of a beast. But I see why.

I’d go for the Sport Glide. The Rocket free is surely built for the NorthAmerican / Australian markets. Comfort and simplicity are important for bikes expected to travel long distances at speed. Also I’m American
