I will never forget being 11 years old and discovering this song late one night with my transistor radio on underneath my pillow so my parents could not hear. Special memories of this song that will always remain with me.

Same age here too. Life without a transistor in 1965 was a hollow life for sure. I recall the thrill of finding a copy of "Wild Thing" with "With a Girl Like You" on the B-plus side of the 45. I still have this little treasure!

Ahhh, the summer of 1967! Remember it well. This song brand new playing out of the very small speaker on my white plastic Motorola transistor radio with the white wired ear phone in one ear. Was like a dream, a dream to hear it brand new until my 9 volt Rayovac battery died. No problem, went to my corner liquor store and bought a new one at 29¢ and a Snickers candy bar for 5¢! That time never to return again.

A nice live version of this oh-so-beautiful song; it's especially gratifying to see the original lead singer, the late Reg Presley, performing it (he also wrote it!). His rendition is by far the best; love the way he'd put a little verbal twist on the delivery of certain words! All wonderful beyond adjectives able to adequately describe! Thanks for making this video available! Gratefully, Ray Cabana, Jr.

As a child I never could figure out how the bands "live performance" songs always ended just like the records! I never realized that the guitars were never hooked up to amplifiers. Then when I was 16 I got a chance to go to a concert and hear one of my favorite American Bands the Grass Roots. I found out another great mystery. Why all their songs were a different tempo then their recorded songs were. Now after being in church choirs all these years I understand how slow or how fast a song can be played.

I'll do you one even better. The vocal of the song are ok. The instruments sound good but nothing special. The words are ok. But when you put it altogether this is one of my favorite songs. I also loved the Grassroots and the Turtles. All of their songs have great singers, great melodies and words. So, I still cannot explain the Troggs. P.S. The Beatles were the greatest. They had pretty good vocals, not too bad songwriting..ha-ha.They were the best and will always be the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@@JFF35753 Since the Troggs were a British Act. Unless you had a manager who was astute enough to promote you worldwide British acts rarely made a dent in the US. An occasional "one hit wonder' situation though they may have been a big UK band. Take Status Quo. They were huge in the UK and most of Europe but they never were big here (US). But after Rick Parfitt died I started listening to their songs and I really liked them. I found a source were I could get a few of their albums and I now listen to them. I am a fan of KZitem for one main reason. I have found a lot of good UK acts that I would have never known existed. MTV opened more variety of artist when they came on the scene and now youtube has busted things wide open.

Just how concerts were filmed at the time : you had that sense of involvement and connection with the musicians . The camera moves slowly - lets you take in the performance and emotions - not darting about with split second shots of everyone : such a difference with slow camera movents , zooms , and overlays with the drummer's rim shots. Pete Staples , on the left of the screen , is just as i envisage a bass guitarist - vital and essential to the line up , but not obtrusive : in fact there is no close up of him. The chords are subtly different as played here and give a slightly different feel to the 45rpm vinyl single. I am referring to the original vinyl singles' mix played on a direct drive turntable at exactly 45rpm. I finally got round to purchasing a copy of Pete Staples' book , and will ask him to sign it. We older generation were around when the vinyl singles were first released !

Love this! The Wet rendition is overdone; too much background stuff is going on. The original by The Troggs is simply beautiful - four chords, simple lovesong lyrics, and the perfect amount of orchestration in the background.
