Talking this for month. It takes some time, but as Russia's economy is knitted (very weak and depending on oil and gas sales, some steel and wood) very simple. Everyone with a economic background and some knowledge about Russia does know the downfall, a bad one, will come. China and India can't take away the losses Russia takes of the losses of the export/import scissor it has. And I don't think luxury goods play a big role in that, it's more of the dependence on imports and support for its Western build automation what produces the rest of the needed goods. The summary of all of this is the explosive what will blow of Russia's economy! And, China's nor India's interest lay in dealing with Russia! Both want to deal with the West. Because Europes import/export volume was ten times higher than that of Russia - China was.

Historically sanctions seems to be an ineffective political tool on its own. Look at countries like Cuba, North Korea, Iran. Sure, sanctions hurt their economy, but they still survive, they grow, they spend most their money on the military to defend themselves against the countries imposing the sanctions as their relationship keeps getting worse year by year and the common people there hates us more and more. What is the point?

Good interview - I speak Russian fluently and therefore I can find information about what is really happening in Russia with the economy. For example, about unemployment - it is difficult to record it in Russia, because the country is currently struggling to prevent a mass panic, even though they no longer need the workforce in many industries - so what do companies do - they don't completely fire employees, but transfer them to part-time jobs - and further, the Russian government tells everyone that everything is fine and that they have to spit on the sanctions, but in fact the situation in many sectors is already dramatic, even though the official date of implementation of many more sanctions is still ahead - such as for oil products and coal . Speaking of coal - yes, some countries would be willing to buy it from Russia, but they have to be transported to the Asian market - it is about 50 million tons of coal by rail - the Trans-Siberian highway is already almost 100% loaded and it is practically impossible to transport additional cargo, because for all these years, Russia has not invested in its logistics and transport infrastructure, but has instead spent money on the army, the Sochi Olympic Games and other projects that do not bring enough benefit to the country's economy.

Russia is burning huge amounts of gas at the russian compressor station Portovaya near St. Petersburg. The flames are visible over dozens of miles from Finland, according to the Finnish news site "Yle". They have also been spotted by NASA. The most plausible reasons for this nonsense: 1.) Europe is buying less and less gas from Russia. It is very expensive to transport it to other parts of the world, even without existing pipelines to those areas. 2.) Russia by far does not have enough storage capabilities for the gas, as well as they don't have storage capabilities for huge amounts of oil. 3.) To simply stop the production of oil and gas is a big problem, because conveyor systems clog and wear very quickly when they are shut down. Restarting them is often more difficult and expensive then drilling new ones. So, Russia is in a very painful dilemma: They can´t just stop mining, but they also cannot store or sell the raw materials either. So they feel compelled to burn everything. A lose-lose-situation for Russia. As on so many other fronts, too. But the gas and oil production in Russia is declining anyway and quickly because of technical difficulties and damages, wich cannot be remedied without western parts and technicians.

I agree. In Denmark, the Ecco group, selling shoes, have refused to pull out of R, keeping stores open, and business running. A LOT of Danish people have stopped buying Ecco shoes, and certain stores, have pulled them from their stores alltogether. Also, the brand was a supplier to the Danish royal family, and the royal family have just announced that Ecco is no longer going to be able to call themselves "Royal supplier" and the royal family is going to cut all ties to Ecco. If Ecco wants to do business in R, that's fine, but then "we" will not be doing business with them here. Can't have it both ways, and if they support what is going on with R, right now, we don't want to suport THEM.

Only in Europe. Zero effect in BRICS nations. Russia less imports means massive savings from costs maintaining foreign reserves. Now with Pelosi scandal the entire Asia has seen the true face of Hostile Regime USA. Good luck for patronizing Russia. Your own losses.

@@JohnDoe-bd5sz Great to hear that and well put! They are free to do whatever they want and what the law allows as a business, but so do their customers. Thanks for pointing them out.

@@Puleczech Yes, if they decide that they want to side with R, that's their decision, the only way i can show my disgust with them, is to not buy their shoes. Was in a shoestore a few months ago, to buy new shoes, as my old Ecco shoes, bought years ago was worn out. When the seller showed me new shoes, she tried taking me to the Ecco display, but i told her semi-loudly that i would NEVER buy shoes from companies that is friends with R. I found another brand og shoe, and a few other costumers in the rather filled shoeshop, voiced their approval of me choosing to NOT buy ECCO. A bit sad for a patriot as myself, wanting to buy "Danish Shoes" but i can not support those who fund the war.

DW may not be the most remembered nor the most celebrated media in the world but we will be here to remember DW’s unwavering spirit of telling the truth in this world of madness. I thank you for shining a light in this scary reality.
