In 1981, established horror director, Wes Craven, was hunting a new project following his release of 1972’s The Last House on the Left & 1977’s The Hills have Eyes. Craven needed a new vision for a horror movie. Despite having a creative mind, his ideas for creating something terrifying were running dry. It was only following a string of articles about a series of unexplained deaths that gave him the perfect pitch for a new, terrifying story. That terrifying story became known as ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ and went on to become a huge hit and a well respected classic by horror movie fans and movie goers in general. But what were the cases that inspired these events? What real-life occurrences caused Wes Craven to create such a terrifying, supernatural story?
