THE TRUTH ABOUT ASPERGERS & LONELINESS || Does autism make you lonely?
Making friends and maintaining relationships for aspies and those on the autism spectrum can be extremely difficult due to social anxiety and issues regarding communication. Neurotypical members of the general public can find rudeness in asperger syndrome and not fully understand the difficulties those with high functioning autism can have with social cues and can generally suffer from crippling shyness.
Some high functioning aspies can mask autism signs well and pretend to be someone they are not and then wonder why the relationship falls apart when they all of a sudden turn into somebody different. telling friends you have autism can be the first step into 'curing' loneliness and i decided to share my loneliness in childhood and how I got through my life struggling to make friends. I have to maintain relationships with my children, wife, parents, family, friends and even subscribers.
It can be a lot to manage and sometimes this is when your coping mechanisms come into place when situations become too much. It could be dealing with confrontation, settling an argument, struggling to listen to others opinions, issues empathising with friends, lack of empathy in general, trust issues, change in personality, change in routine, even just the simple things of keeping in touch with others.
We are talking about using social media to build relationships which can hopefully turn into physical relationships. Focusing on a hobby and finding others who share your passions to help with common ground and start conversations.
