I appreciate that you mentioned the Bible and Christianity briefly. I think a lot of KZitemrs shy away from it even though it's encouraging to know other people are also religious on the platform

@@OnlyTheBestFantasyNovels What's hard to believe for me as a consumer isn't that you could read 100 years a book (there was a time in my life where i read 500+ pages/day on average, so I topped this number by a wide margin), but that you could do that and still release quality videos on youtube on a regular basis. This said I also don't really care about the number of books someone reads, so if they really can do that, awesome, but if they cheat a bit with that number and I like the videos they are doing, I don't really mind them overselling

Honestly if you think Booktube is competitive, you’re doing it wrong. Booktube is collaborative. The rising tide raises all boats mate.

Never said booktube isn't collaborative :) I frequently collaborate with other booktubers which I love to do. I was just stating that fact that there are thousands of creators posting weekly which makes it competitive and hard to be seen.

I think the one question that gave me a bit of a pause was the question if KZitem ruins reading. Not because I believe that (I love how many younger people started reading because of booktube and booktok) but because there's this tendency to jump on the bandwagon of every hype going around because of the clicks you can create with it. Which leads to everyone talking about Fourth Wing and the Iron Flame instead of the actual quality stuff like Tad Williams or Robin Hobb. Again, I don't think that ruins reading, but I think it makes it harder for the authors that write at a high level with great characters, great world-building, great storytelling AND great prose to be seen which is kind of a shame. Case in point, I just finished Nebula and World Fantasy award nominated Wole Talabi's Shigidi and the Brass Head of Olubafon (absolute fantastic read, btw.) and when I just went out and di a little search, I had a really hard time finding someone who had at least a few thousand followers reading about it. I would love to see books like this getting more promotion on booktube instead of the mainstream stuff I get shown over and over again by basically everyone creating in that niche. On the other hand, and contradicting myself a bit here, I also would never have stumbled about a few amazing authors like Philip Chase, if not for booktube, so there's that.

Great video! I read about 100 books a year, work full-time and have a child. But I always tell people that reading is my main hobby and I'm a very fast reader. People don't discuss about how fast or slow they read when they read high numbers.

I guess it mostly depends on what you prefer. There are pros and cons to each of them: on one hand, hardcovers are more durable, on the other hand, paperbacks are more portable. For those who need glasses to read, hardcovers have bigger fonts and paperbacks have smaller fonts. Sorry, I know I didn't give you a definitive answer 🤷

This was an amazing video. I loved hearing about all your experiences in booktube. But, a real quick tip to most new booktubers like me- You need a computer to see people’s emails in their about me. It does not work on mobile. Believe me- I learned it the hard way. PS: also, how do you have so many amazing video ideas. ai really don’t think it’s fair.

About reading 100 boks a year: Myself, not a BookTuber, will get up to a hundred books at the end of this month. It really isn't impossible, it is just about what you like to do. Personally, I don't watch TV almost at all, so that leaves me with a lot of free time. PS. About space at home - not at all, as most of the books I get from the library in my home area, i.e. the greater Helsinki region.
