This is based on caffeinated coffee. Decaf is totally fine to drink. There isn't a specific recommendation like caffeinated coffee, but it's still important what you put in your decaf coffee and that water is the primary drink consumed throughout the day.

I had never heard of this so just looked it up! Looks like it is just ground cacao powder that you brew like coffee (but isn't coffee obviously). Cacao is a good source of potassium. I can't see how much is in a brewed cup, so I would just check on that depending on individual potassium needs!

There really isn't a generalized recommendation for all teas. Some safe teas like hibiscus can potentially be harmful if excessively consumed (can have a diuretic effect). But in general, 1-3 servings of tea is safe. You will just want to check specific herbal teas with your provider!

Decaf is fine! And many teas are as well. Generally black, green, chamomile, and hibiscus tea are okay (assuming they're consumed in "normal" amounts and not excessively). It's important with teas though to check the label and make sure there aren't herbal blends that contain herbs that aren't recommended for people with CKD. The National Kidney Foundation has information on their website about herbs that are recommended to avoid/limit with CKD.

Since filtered coffee is made directly from coffee beans it is generally higher in antioxidants compared to instant coffee.

There are not any contraindications to drinking black tea with kidney disease! Black tea contains ~ 1/2 the amount of caffeine that coffee does.

Ciaooo, first i wanna thank you sow much for all what all the videos, for me is sow important every detaile, My name is Raluca end i have 39 years , in 2021'i was having Creatinine 2.2 i was at the hospital 7 days after my doctor family told me to make just some blood tests. After all this test my Creatinine was very highh for a normal women at 34 years old 😢, sad moments end depression , .... sow all this now in july 2024 my Creatinine is 3.40 , Potassium is normal, Fosfor normal, Sodium normal, non diabetic . I eat only cereals like bio cornflakes whit no sugar or add flavours, sometimes some fibre from mix cereals let's say 1 time in the week whit some soya milk low fatt because i make at home absolutly everything , what about tapioca flavour???? I love tapioca flower end the taste is gorgeous for me , i eat berries end sometimes some apple bake in oven end i put some fresh berries end 1 little spoon honey poliflowers bio or manuka honey . You are a one the greats doctor i watch all the informations sow important for us whit this Diagnostic . GOD bless you everyday 🙏🙏🙏🙏. ❤❤🎉🎉🎉

@@plantbasedkidneyskitchen thanks for quick response, of course i prepare you're meals , end i love them all🥰🥰, i forget to tell you that i never ever not even in my childhood ....nooo red met for me , or rabbit, pork just a little bit in my plate when my grandma made some steak or some traditional recepies , i always choose from fridge , fruits end salad whit some chesse cow from farm, end i never crave for juice market like nothing , my mum it was a little bit strict whit white sugar, end all the comercial sparkling juice ...... sow for me is very easy to love you're recepies is sow important to me to don't think all the time what neightmare is for me sow young end to have this afection kidney☺️☺️, sow again God bless you end you're family that you love . You didn't mention the strength of the coffee. American style coffee is thought to be weak compared to other country's habits.

It's based on an 8 ounce cup of coffee having an average of 95 mg caffeine. So less than 300 mg/day caffeine. If the coffee is stronger, then it would be recommended to consume less!

People can be sensitive to caffeine regardless of weight. But in general yes, you're right! That is why there is a range provided of 1-3 8 ounce cups vs a specific amount.

I am talking about pour over coffee in this video. However, espresso still applies here (but in smaller volumes). 1 ounce of espresso is 65 mg caffeine, where 8 oz coffee is 95 mg. So to keep the caffeine of espresso to the "acceptable" 1-3 8 ounce cup portion, one would need to limit espresso to no more than 4 ounces/day (which would be ~260 mg caffeine).
