This video has top notes of shattered delusions, mids of salty rube tears, and base notes of the ashes of every Fragcomm trope ever created. It was a journey of denial, anger, grief, and regret. You gave us a short documentary here that dissected and examined every aspect of Fragcomm. And the ending was profoundly human in a way that I think resonates with everyone here. So well done, George! In my opinion, you and Chris continue to set the bar here!

I live in a small Finnish town and I'm probably the only one here who's into fragrances. I've had this "hobby" only a couple of years but I've already spent a little fortune on it. Way too much to be honest. But at the same time I've found all these Top 10 videos and all the talk about compliments just stupid. I wear fragrances only for myself and only in my own privacy. I thought I'm just weird but after watching this video I realized I'm not. Thank you George for the best fragrance related video on KZitem and thank you for helping me to realize that I'm doing this just right. Fragrances shouldn't be worn to fish compliments or to get laid. Instead, they are journeys and adventures into your own personality and history. If someone else likes how you smell, that's just a bonus.

Yeah, I only wear them for myself. I pulled out at 4 designer fragrances.... close to $400 dollars. Now, I bought Afnan Modest Une, 9PM, and 9AM Deep Dive. Close to $90 dollars for 3/100ml bottles. And I'm done.

I am so glad I came across this video. I had to force myself to pause on buying more fragrances and use what I have. I realized that the best compliments I received about what fragrance I wore wasn't what perfume I was wearing. It was "You smell good" or I could hear someone close by say "something smells good over here" and refer to me. I do appreciate people asking what I'm wearing because that's nice too and made the purchase worth it. But when a scent is one with you and your body chemistry and translates to simply YOU smelling good, that's the real magic of fragrance and how personal it is. I get kinda turned off by the lists because I would try samples of them and learned really fast unless I try it on my skin first, don't blind buy on a recommendation from someone you don't know. Period.

I can't describe how hard this video hits home. What a cinematic masterpiece. Thank you for being the only fragrance KZitemr with a scrap of integrity George. I can't lie, it's not what it once was. Every video is "this is sexy", "this makes you a man", "panty dropper" and the wallet just gets emptier and the collection gets bigger. KZitemrs like Monika Cioch, Curly fragrances, Jeremy fragrance etc are so guilty of misleading so many people into poor purchasing decisions out of a place of insecurity. It's criminal. I stopped buying fragrances earlier this year. And stopped watching fragrance videos around January too. They're all the same, an endless cycle of mind-numbing, click baity, self serving drivel... KZitemrs are essentially an extension of the ridiculous marketing techniques used by these companies. Which explains why so many of them are in the pockets of big brand's, recieving sponsorships, freebies etc. Once you see how false the fragrance KZitem game is you can't unsee it. Even long loved reviewers who were previously 'against the grain' and devisive like Aaron Terrance Hughes aren't the same. He once slated CDNIM. Upon his channel exploding he deleted his honest review and replaced it with a "this is a masterpiece" styled video. It's such a shame to see and he wasn't happy when I called him out for removing his honest review for one that would be popular and bring in more subscribers.

Very well done George. I started this journey when my therapist encouraged me to start "taking better care of myself". My attitude was "smell good, feel good." I soon found myself buying fragrances I didnt need and that I had never smelled. I recently started dating a woman and she asked if Id be willing to wear 1 main fragrance that she could get familiar with. (A signature scent). She was very fond of Mont Blanc Legend EDP, so thats what I wear most of the time we are together.

Ive never seen your channel before but i felt compelled to watch this video in its entirety as it speaks to where I’m at to an extent. It’s gonna be a long comment but your story made me want to share mine. Im a 33 yr old Brit ad growing up i was never really into fragrances that much and until last year i wore the same 3 fragrances that my mum introduced to me as a teen, Calvin Klein obsession, JPG Le male and issey miyake por homme. Last October i was at work at a friend who i knew was a serious fragrance collector walked past me and its the first time my head was on a swivel and i lost my mind , this scent was amazing and I couldn’t stop talking about it ,in fact it got me so much that I immediately spent 135 pounds on 35ml of none other than tobacco vanille by Tom ford and this is what began my journey into the rabbit hole of fragrance. Before that tom ford i had never spent more than 70 on a fragrance so this was monumental for me. But after wearing this fragrance i then started going on KZitem to watch reviews of others and proceed to by more and more based on these recommendations and although my buying fragrances was mainly because i loved to smell them and not for others i found myself subconsciously buying into the supposed magical powers that these scents had . And as i bought more i got into clones and then i got into niche as i wanted the the best of the best and the addictive powers of advertising affected me every KZitem video i watched. Last month my attitude started changing as i bought 8 fragrances in 3 weeks and i felt like a problem was developing. I had a wedding to go to last month and i ordered xerjoffs Naxos after smelling it at selfridges and i thought this would be the perfect head turner but unfortunately it didn’t get delivered till 2 days after the wedding but because i wanted a nice new fragrance i proceeded to buy angels share by killian meaning i spent 360 quid that i wouldve never dreamt of ever doing so before . I spoke with my mum who likes nice perfumes too and she could see i was getting addicted so i decided to take action. I blocked websites such as fragrantica and perfume off my phone and made a promise to my self that i will really cut down on reviews i watch and only buy fragrances a couple times a year and definitely not from watching reviewers. Sorry for the long message but after watching your amazing video it summed up perfectly where I’m at and i too am jumping out of the fragrance rabbit and just enjoying the ones i have and being content . Thanks again for all your effort as i think video is something that all your enjoy fragrances should watch and ill be sharing it many people i know

But you put so much heart and soul into this video it really blew me away. As you said smells will transport you to a time and place. Some good and some not so good, but its an instant time machine. Suddenly im 15 in my bedroom smelling the michael jordan cologne. Or being 11 and putting on my dads Old Spice aftershave. I've been figuring out a lot of the same things after 6 months deep in the fragrance world, that nobody cares what I smell like (as long as it's subtle), that a certain fragrance can represent a time and place, that it's for me and my emotions, that's it's, as you put it, a little song. I've already stopped watching the fragrance KZitemrs but I still love sampling and discovering a new favorite. I hope this is a lifelong hobby of celebrating an art that captures a moment in time and gives people memories of me. And you're right, I don't need fragrance for any of that, but they're beautiful and they make my life better.

The end was cathartic. This was so good. We barely understand ourselves. I usually use for utility, and mood. But i don't think i can wear when I'm in a bad mood. An amazing film and massively important treatise on buying addiction George. Not just fragrances, but nearly every luxury and fashion product out there. All the drivers are subconscious. And boredom is a powerful one. The hooks and promises you discuss only get people through the door - habituation is the real key, like keeping people in a casino. But it's interesting that no one seems to mention the attrition rate. In the years I've been watching fragrance related content, I've seen countless people come and go. The newbies are what the algorithm is after. But I think the real die-hards are still out there, jaded to the point of retiring from the hobby, but continuing to cultivate a deeper appreciation for their collections nonetheless. In the end, the mind will prevail.

Stuff like that about the unknown or interesting facts and history and don’t be afraid to ruffle feathers, and of course that _SPARK_ 😂 that you, George, bring us. Beautiful movie, a lot of poetry ❤ Congratulations for the quality of the content, the editing and the music selection (especially the Severance soundtrack, such an amazing show!). This journey through the fragrance world made my day, thank you for that!

It's videos like this which show off what you do best: talking earnestly and sentimentally about perfume. Sure, anyone can review a fragrance but not everyone can do it with such heart and earnestness. You understand the importance of getting mood right in your videos and that's a skill in itself. Long story short, the community would be a very boring place without you. Keep it up! PS: You introduced me to the amazing tune Chitty Fix by Pogo and I'm forever grateful for that. As a lover of garage and Grant Nelson-era house, it hits the right spot every time - such a banger!

You keep getting better and better. This was a ride that I didn't want to end. George I've watched you for a couple years now, and I still get an (I can't wait!) feeling to see what you created. It's always such a pleasure to see your passion for fragrances. Simply wonderful. Thank you for all your effort.

The only fragrance video /documentary that I have watched multiple times; and I can easily watch it again. Patiently waiting for the story behind Creed Millésime Impérial in Part 2!
