I don’t even have an idi, but absolutely agree that censorship is terrible. You should be able to have opposing opinions and preferences to different products. If you have to remove comments for other products, your product is overpriced or poor quality, and it’s definitely scummy to hide information. Some people rely on these trucks running for their livelihoods and it’s really scummy to hide information from those people. Solid video

Quite disappointing once I was in the groups a few months and kept having my comments and posts deleted as "misinformation" or "harmful to the trucks" which is all a matter of interpretation and personal opinion that seems to favor a certain person's business. It is not productive or helpful to censor and delete. An open honest discussion and way for people to learn or talk out what really is best is not able to happen in that environment. Thanks for watching and God bless.

I was working on idi's when they were new. Bought a brand new 6.9 f-250 manual in 1984 373 gear lsd 5 speed manual 2wd and it got 26mpg on highway. Got tired of the lugging and lagging then installed higher flowing injectors special built in 1985 with a worked over stanadyne injector pump topping all that off with the banks turbo kit, propane injection and dual stacks. Truck would get sideways in third gear like my 460 powered 83 f-250. Had my foot in that diesel rolling the coal blowing camaro's off the road. It gave me over 400,000 miles of enjoyment till one day a rod said fu$% it and left town.

Only cons are they are harder to install than the caps, and they cost is more. There is some one on KZitem selling a kit that uses brass caps, i think this is probably superior to the billet rails.

The O-rings felt a bit stiff.. even the ones that was in the truck felt more fresh. I still have the original grey cups, maybe i should put them back with some new O-rings.. also the injector lines were a bit rusty at the tip, maybe they're leaking a bit.
@worthshop

You can verry lightly sand the rust off the lines with emery cloth. Be real careful to clean up any debris when done so it doesn't end up in the fuel system. I would just get new orings and try it again. 9 times out of 10 if you get a leak it is due to the oring getting pinched or nicked during assembly. Lube it up real good and try again.

Us budget idi guys need to keep putting good info out there because buying $800 injectors for a $500 truck is not helping anyone. The information that’s shared in the groups shouldn’t be deleted, so others can go through the info and decide for themselves what they want to use. You can buy two sets of so called “junk” injectors and a pop tester for the same price that some guy on fb is selling one set of injectors.

That is my main point in making the video, to fight the censorship of information. He and his miions can delete comments and remove people from Facebook groups but they can't censor my yourube chanel. Younger idi guys need to be able to learn about there trucks in am honest manner. After a lot of trial and error, i figured out how to fix the idi return lines. First of all you dont put lube on it. Instead you clean everything good and use 3 orings instead of 2 . You put the 2 oring on the injector and 1 on top of the injector just under the cap. Tighten everything back up and walah . No more leaks no more greasy vaseline on your injectors.

Good video. I have had many idi and like them. I had one idi that no matter what I did it always had leaking returns. I used new caps on it and they seem loose to me. I was wondering if you know anything about using a plastic drain plug washer on top of the cap so the line nut pushes the washer and the washer pushes on the cap to stop movement? I bought a real nice 1985 f350 with a service body its a 6.9 T19 Dana 70. I am going to put new O rings and lines but leave the caps. Its going to be my pull rig. Going from a 03 7.3 to a 6.9 is going to be a change. My idi has dual exhaust it also has an air cleaner like the old banks power pack. I am going to leave it non turbo but I think I will put on a hypermax cowl intake, perferated tube glass packs and turn the pump up about 1.5flats. I will also put a pyrometer in it. I haul my car to the drag strip often and that should be nothing but I also have a gooseneck that weighs 7400lbs on its own and I haul equipment like tractors and crawlers and stuff. That old 6.9 is going to have its work cut out with 26,000lbs behind it. I think the service body is heavy and it will be full of tools. Nolan.

Really, somebody just needs to make an ever so slightly fatter o-ring and this would be so much easier. I fought with crappy orings from 2 new kits (amazon then autopart store) leaking before pushing the orings out a tiny bit with a couple wraps of fuel resisant pipe thread tape in each oring slot before putting greased orings on...3000 miles so far and hasn't leaked since.
@worthshop
6 ай бұрын
That is interesting. Not supposed to use thread tape at all in a diesel fuel system. It holds up to diesel, but you risk a little piece of the tape making it's way into the injection pump or clogging an injector. But hey it's working and that's what counts! Way to think outside the box and come up with a solution!
@coffeeshangarworkshop8051

My issue is not with the reboxing, or overpriced stuff he sells. My issue is with the censorship, and deleting of people from the Facebook groups for daring to suggest other companies or brands. @worthshop

Not sure what you mean by an argument, or where I stand on the subject. But the turbo specific kit is not required. As long as you do a crossover and tie it all together. Also the single nippled cap for passenger side rear is not difficult to make by capping a na corner caps nipple. You can look up alternative return line routing on Google. Do what you feel is best on your own truck.

If it's a lower end knock, engine needs rebuilt. If it is an upper end combustion related knock, an injector is probably sticking or bad. Start with running some diesel kleen through it next time you fuel up. Might get it unstuck, if not you will need a new set of injectors.

russ isnt an admin or moderator on any page im on. and the delphi kits have been proven to be junk. every one ive installed has leaked. i stopped buying them for that reason if they were any good then why do you only replace the orings? havent seen a video of yours yet where you actually use a single part other than an oring.
@worthshop
Жыл бұрын
Russ stopped being admin and moderator on about 5 groups AFTER I called him out on his bad business practices and censorship. So obviously I had a positive impact on that whole situation for the idi community as a whole. If you actually watch my videos, you would know the answers to the rest. I have done full kits on several trucks, first one was the free idi truck I got years ago not running, and it ran great after replacement of caps... Delphi caps lasted years until I traded that truck. I don't do videos specific about installing caps, because there is already 50 videos about doing caps on youtube. No point adding another. Again, replacing just the orings was to prove a point. You don't need an overpriced kit from russ to reseal the return lines. You often don't even need caps or lines, just a couple o rings for the win. So even though you are attempting to disprove my point.. You literally just reiterated it. Thank you for your agreement!

I know its really overkill, and like gold plating a turd. But personally once I find the IDI truck I want to tinker on and restore, I'm going with those billet return rails that R&D IDI offers. others with a tighter budget probably cant see spending the money on them but I really don't want to be 20 years from now trying to 3d print my own return caps know what I'm saying? Cause one day whoever owns the injection tooling for those plastic caps is gonna call it quits, or they are gonna get the last life they can from those molds and never replace them because why bother with 300k$ worth of injection molding for a market that might bring them 10k$ a year? Then you will have to 3d print them and there's no telling what kind of quality that could bring.

Then CCD manufactures issues with other suppliers and tries to stir up crap with other suppliers to slander them which honestly is a shady buisiness practice. Would never do buisiness with CDD.

I third the cdd as they also re sell eBay products. But I also will say any people selling “kits” for pretty much anything is gonna be revoked to some extent. It’s not like on place makes in house viton rings, in house caps, in house clamps, in house hose ect ect that’s just how it is. I’ve used parts house return kits that lasted a bit and I’ve used Russ’s kit that’s lasted since then and at least with him the costumer support is top notch and actually dealing with a real person and not eBay or parts stores on warranty is anything goes wrong or is wrong with it

I was in no way shape or form endorcing classic diesel designs. Simply showing the price difference in 1 single item. Also russ accused me of being a part of classic diesel designs in a message, so figured I might as well throw them in the mix.

Reboxed is reboxed, you are correct no one makes all the kit pieces in house. But to run a group and give that impression that russes kits are better plastic, thicker, stronger, better made, the only caps that fit etc etc. Us a lie because they are reboxed. To censor other options is my main issue. Giving new idi guys the impression they have to shop from one person is dishonest

@@worthshop your not wrong in there is always other options, I also agree on saving money. Main reason on his is the costumer service and known quality. But anyone can buy the pieces to the kit to an extent and make it themselves cheaper. In the same sense of keeping mom and pop shops alive today as well is also why some choose his.

We all have different experiences with people. At the end of the day I side with free speech and sharing of information. Not censorship and deleting of comments. I'm sure Russ, as with all of us has done good by some and bad by others. None of us that walk this earth are perfect beyond Jesus.

There are 2 styles early style and late style return line caps. Either your hose barbs are centered (7135-264) old style or offset to one side (7135-276) new style. You want to find the kit that matches what is on your truck. Delphi makes both styles search the part numbers I listed above.

It’s a shame doing this kind of business. Soon or later people will find out the truth. I don’t use anymore this plastics junks return lines caps anymore. I bought a kit were all caps are brass made and they works incredibly great and will last forever. The guy have a KZitem channel where he explain about it. The name Is Dregs Diesel. Go check it out.

I looked into the brass caps, he currently has a wait time of 8 months on them. Appreciate the suggestion and thanks for watching. God bless.
