The beauty of CrossFit it’s that it is our foundation. A couple months of a specific goal is encouraged in CrossFit. It has given you the tools to quickly adapt to whatever training modality you prioritize.

Dear Mister Richey. I enjoyed the first moments of your 4 minute rest. Also - I’ve been a Crossfitter for 8 years now. I love me a good metcon, but during the pandemic, I did the Burgener Strength Program in my garage, and LOVED lifting. Love your positivity and really dig the focus you have on your new goal. Can’t wait to see how you do! High Five from Calgary!

I feel it’s a natural progression in fitness or sport in general. I went the opposite direction, bodybuilding to powerlifting then into CrossFit/ oly lifting. Balancing keeping pure strength but gaining my fitness back.

I have drifted away from CrossFit over the years. I started in 2008 with my now husband. Since then I have periods where I focus on weightlifting (thundrbro) for a year, I did opex for a year, endurance focused on running programming, now I’m trying CrossFit Mayhem which has body building as well. So I alternate days that I do CrossFit and body building in the Mayhem programming. I will also take a week off every few months from it all and just do yoga or Pilates or just go walk out side. Anyways, I need it. I’m in my late 30’s now and I switched to scaled after giving birth to our second daughter.

I've gravitated towards strongman. Crossfit in general, and my local box especially, is becoming an aerobics competition. The old muscle head in me can't give up the strength. And let's face it: functional? Really? So much of this stuff doesn't apply on the job site nor farm. So many nifty party tricks. It is fun though, and I have met some really cool people. Still go to the box, just do my own thing. Kinda fun making stuff up!

I did Cf for about 2.5 years and did a few comps, instantly dropped it for Weightlifting after doing my first lifting comp though. I knew weightlifting was the sport I wanted to try and be competitive in, it seems a load of people stick with weightlifting after doing crossfit too. I was a fanatic for Crossfit too, but just lost it over time. I dont think the sport has the same charm as it used to either.

Isn't this the fundamental flaw of CrossFit? You just keep doing and competing in very random workouts all the time? I think it's the one thing keeping me from trying it. Like with power lifting, running, cycling, swimming etc you are always improving and competing in that, so you don't ever feel like your in a limbo even if no events are on...
