Interview someone from KFF or the Guttmacher Institute for abortion stats and demographics...Who and why women choose abortion Secondly, have someone on that talks about how pro-life advocates would do more to decrease abortions if they voted for legislators who supported living wages, affordable healthcare, child tax credits, paid parental leave, affordable childe care etc.

It wasn’t just the Russian oligarchs that took advantage of the situation. Plenty of US foreigners, 20-something cowboys dressed as investment bankers, went over there and bought up all the Russian ruble-based “stock options” and then with USAID help, set up the first Russian stock exchange, so they could turn them into US dollars. No one talks about what it is like trying to do business in Russia. I have a relative who tried for several years to make business deals there, with no success, simply because the russians are very tricky to deal with. Trump himself has tried and never succeeded. Russia and Italy are very close to each other in terms of nominal gross domestic product, which is the standard unit used to measure the size of a country’s economy. Nominal GDP is the total cost of all goods and services produced or sold in a country in within a certain time frame. Russia’s 2013 nominal GDP was $2.1 trillion, and Italy’s was $2.07 trillion, according to the World Bank. That’s not the only way to measure a country’s economy, of course, and this is where the two countries differ. Purchasing power parity takes nominal GDP a step further and shows the value of this level of economic activity if it took place in America. (The Economist explains it by showing how much a McDonald’s Big Mac costs around the world.) Russia’s GDP calculated for purchasing power parity was $3.5 trillion, while Italy’s was $2.1 trillion. So in 2013, Russia had a higher level of economic activity than Italy, but because goods and services are more expensive in Italy, the overall value (nominal GDP) ended up the same. Also, Italy has more wealth relative to the size of its population than Russia does. Italy’s 2013 GDP per capita (per person) was $34,619, and Russia’s was $14,612. (Politifact)

And also started WW2 with a deal with Hitler where they divided up and destroyed Poland and its society. Your narrative is heroic but the history of Russia is to be the tax man for the Mongols and to prey on its neighbours and to enslave millions of people down the centuries. And they are still using meat wave tactics and don't value the lives of people outside of Moscow and a few major cities. So there's another side of the story.

I also appreciate her wonderful balance of empathy with the average Russian (who has zero culpability) and calling it the way it was with regard to those in power. Stephanie I think you should go again to Russia, to Russian cities, and in addition, maybe go to China, and visit some random cities there. And count the homeless people on the street. And then, return to US, and go to some American cities, and count the homeless people there where the dollar is supreme, as you put it. That will give you better picture which country cares more for it's citizens. Especially in China. You will be surprised when you see how the Chinese live in their cities which are upgraded all the time, and and how the americans live. Visit the metro stations, the streets. Because, looking only in the economic numbers can give you wrong impression.

In that meeting in Helsinki between putin and trump, something was up. Putin looked like he had eaten a canary and trump looked like it was his canary that was gobbled up.

Sanctions - My view. Expect them to cost you as much as it costs your opponent. So only worth doing them if you are significantly larger and once you do them the opponent will look for both immediate and long term product / service substitutions and will find them over time. This means long term two economies are created and they then compete just as USSR vs WEST competed for decades but one economy was significantly better so won. Now think what happens if one day we try this with China. Same result but maybe China becomes the better of the two economies.

Very sharp gal. Illuminating interview. I would say that the keyword exercise at the end is gimmicky and redundant; she's already talked about these things.

Way too big a topic in general, but can you do a show about the weapons donated to Ukraine vs onshoring weapons they need. I know a lot has to do with defense companies are not nationalized. I get the feeling a lot of the supply issues for Ukraine are due to the west not really having all of the hardware they show on paper. Only way to make sure Ukraine can survive is get investors to open defense manufacturing (since they are one of the best) which kills a lot of birds with one drone. 😂

Anthony - your views on Russia are quite simplified collection of already grossly simplified views of young western journalists that rushed to Russia in 1990-ies in search of excitement and rocket start of their carriers. The fundamental error of that generation of these Western explorers was a basic belief that still remains the largest misconception: that Russians are just like Americans, liberty-loving, etc, who were held back by bad history. Until the West will understand that Putin is a true representation of Russian imperialistic view at the world, shared by a huge majority of Russian population, we will always make dubious decisions and allow Russia to use the holes in Western policies to wiggle out from responsibility for their atrocities and tricks.
