The truth in a nutshell was: you get to define what success means to you, the reality of diminishing returns with achievements, external validation is temporary and internal validation matters more (aka. self worth & self love) Make sure to check the description for more practical videos on success! 23 habits of highly successful people, habits that changed my life, etc. that’s all really helpful & applicable :) I also wanted to re-share someone's definition of success in the comments: “Success is the absence of the anxious feeling that you’re not where you’re supposed to be. Success is when you look around and wouldn’t trade your life for anyone else’s." -- love it

Love your honesty on this topic Aileen. It’s refreshing to see a successful creator like yourself being happy with where you are and not constantly striving for more and more just because. I think it is hard for people sometimes to appreciate how far they’ve come and remember that there was a point in their past where they were wishing so hard to be where they are today. There’s always that “what’s next?” mentality, but we don’t need to always go by it. Hope to see more real talks like this on your channel ❤️

It’s crazy that people will try to put you down for feeling like this. I’ve been living like this for the last year and being around my family it’s crazy, they think I’m “ not doing anything “ because I’m not “ working “. It’s a horrible feeling because I’m trying to get them to understand I’m actually happy! Detached from social media, anxiety is drastically cut down etc. that internal energy is what matters! ♥️ Keep doing you shorty! 💯🤷🏽♀️

Aileen, this was so refreshing (as is all of your content). It seems like everyone is always talking about the next big goal they're running towards, which is well and good, and I'm sure you will uncover more goals and dreams over the course of your life, but to hear you talk about your peace and contentment with where you are is just wonderful, and I relate a lot to your feelings about simplicity and slowness in life and work.
@simple4kill

I'm happy you opened this topic, especially because I had an intense internal debate of how to define success just a couple of days ago 😅 I made the conclusion that success is extremely subjective, but it can be best described as contentment. It's when you can look at your life, and think 'Yes, this is good'. I would not say 'happiness' because happiness is an euphoric, fleeting emotion. Success is the absence of the anxcious feeling that you're not where you're supposed to be. For some, that is having a family, and a modest, stable income. For others it is fame and wealth. It's unfair when we use the word 'success' to lable people who live a shiny life. Some people would die of horror if they had to live in a public eye 24/7, be pretty, politicaly correct and responsible for huge amounts of money or employees - so would we call them successful if they are breaking under the pressure? We would, actually, but falsely. Success is when you look around yoursel,f and you wouldn't trade your life for anyone else's.

Hi Aileen! I'm so glad you made this video. I have never heard anyone talk about entrepreneurship this way. But it is also my goal in life to succeed at the speed of balance. Hustle culture can be really toxic at times. I listen to a lot of podcasts and read a lot of articles about entrepreneurship and it seems the goal is always to go bigger and faster no matter the cost and seemingly for no reason. If you are happy with a small business, why is it necessary to scale? That's just something that has been on my heart lately. I just want to live a simple, peaceful, fulfilled life. So glad to see you are following your heart on this 🙏🏾💜

This resonates so strongly with me. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt last year was that we all have our own definition of success. And it’s ok to have minimal goals that are less than extraordinary. When we release the expectation to attain a certain number/title, we allow ourselves to pursue what truly sparks us, even if our goals seem “ordinary” from others’ perspective.

Half of my family really have difficulty understanding this goal. In their eyes I should just enjoy being a grandmother. I love being a grandmother but I need more to be fulfilled. It's refreshing to hear about a perspective on success that's so different from society's, of which you could argue even almost borders on greed. Many people hustle for more, more and more and encourage that for others, with a stressful journey and short-lived rewards. Must be a blessing to have your happiness be in your present, as opposed to something you're always distanced from and have to obtain.
@Uiltje9325

Girl you are so right!! We think "oh when I have that thing I'll be happy", but then we find something else to strive for. I think we naturally have the urge to strive for things, and once we have that thing, we find a new thing to want. So we push forward the 'moment' we allow ourselves to be happy. It takes an eye opener like this video to realize that we can allow ourselves to be happy with what we already have, and that we should not feel guilty about feeling content with ourselves. I think being content with yourself also makes it easier to overcome new obstacles, because you're like "yeah I did THAT!", which is motivating! Anyway I'll stop rambling now, I'm so happy you found your balance and happiness, and congrats on 800k! Sending love! X

Aileen, how do you feel about sharing more of your daily "mundane" life in a sort of vlog form? Maybe you want to keep it private, but it's a way to keep posting but share what's meaningful to you. I would watch! A lot of people love that type of content! I'm in a very different situation and yet there's a lot of similarities. I saved money while working for a couple of years, got pregnant, and decided to quit my job to stay home with my baby. I know it's what I want and what's really important in life and yet, I feel scared sometimes like I should be doing more, should be making money, and yet, ultimately, what's more important than getting to spend these first years with my kid?

You're such an amazing, unique, beautiful,humble, dreamy, clever and inspirational lady. I have sadly not achieved any of my goals yet, not even a little clarity, so to hear someone who feels they have already achieved everything they ever wanted is quite something. I hope I too can become thoroughly successful and happy in life. Thank you.

This video was amazing!! In this world where the word ‘hustle’ is given so much importance, where ‘resting’ is considered terrible, someone had to speak about knowing where to stop chasing constantly and feel content. I am glad you have reached that point and importantly realised it and made peace with it. I love your channel and your honesty! Congrats on 800000!

I feel like you are like my dream self, it's like I am talking to my future self (if ever I'd be that successful and happy and peaceful in the future) I love your content, I listen to your videos while I'm working on my quizzes and homework for graduate school. I hope I can become like you in the future. Bless you!

Thank you for being so true. I totally agree with you, from the beginning until the end. Life is a personal journey and in it, only a few things really matter such as love, joy, health, pursuit of hapiness.

I definitely feel what you mean. "OK cool" its nothing about not being grateful . I think its just human nature . Once you really achieve what you wanted. Something really changes. After a while, its really nothing.

I do think the world needs more people like you. What I like the most about you is your spontanious talking, how existing you make the learning become and your combination of both let as feel how natural, motivated and inspiring is to make mistakes, to learn from and to have thereby the tool to move in an anthor step of success. You're great and you have to continue to do what makes you happy, maybe you have to explore other passions in addition to vlogging, you're definitely not a girl who's content with one job in her whole life. Look at Oprah when she stops her show to live the life that inspires her at that time, get this opportunity and move on to one greater level. Thank you

I LOVE this video! It's very real and true to you and delivers an important message to your audience. A lot of what you said I resonate with so well. The need to stop feeling guilty for putting yourself and your passions and dreams first. Not letting others dictate what your success or life should be. Living life and success by YOUR terms because it IS something that comes down to the individual... Being able to take a break when you want to, and again without feelings guilty, stressed, or desperate about it. 😔 I can also relate to not fitting into corporate atmospheres. I really believe it's just a Creative's thing. I'm super artsy and my passion and purpose lies in Theatre and Acting and being creative. I get stifled and stressed and anxious really quickly in regular jobs that only look for a paycheck and serve as survival. I'm finding very strongly this year that, despite having to work a regular job while pursuing my career in Theatre, the hours I give to my employer are no longer nearly as important to me as giving my time and energy to Theatre and the things that bring me joy and purpose. There are people, including myself because I've been stuck in survival mode my whole life and still struggle, that make me feel guilty or foolish or crazy for thinking that way. But it's the life of an Artist. It's so refreshing and relieving to hear you, who have pursued your ikigai and found your definition of success, talk about that too. I really needed to hear this today! Thank you so much! 🙏🏻

Aileen, don't stop because you feel "ok and comfortable" explore new fields that you could do. I really admire your works. Don't settle.. l know that I or no one have to tell you this, but since you said that in the begining of the video I felt like I should tell
